Bush: man of ideas

I’m sure this is obvious to most, but just in case:

The war in Iraq is not (totally) about oil.

It’s more so about:

a) returning to the famous Biblical sights

b) and shaking up the M-E to get some democracy and liberalization going there.

George Bush: man of ideas!

I’d say it’s about 90% oil.

K: I can see the ad.

George Bush, making the world safe for
tourist everywhere.

The single best description I heard of bush is this:

He had an idea once, but it died of loneliness.

i dont think we are going to see very much oil money.

dick cheney left halliburton shortly before running for vice president. part of his gigantic, completely undeserved retirement package (hes no skilled businessman, hes got famous political influence ever since his reagan years and thats what he gets paid for, same with bush) was a piece of the future earnings that halliburton makes.

that means if halliburton profits go up after dick moves on, dick gets paid more by halliburton. so its actually pretty much exactly as if he were still working there (or rather, working in the ‘governmental manipulation’ department)

in the summer before 911, there was a memo saying that we should just basically try and figure out an excuse to go into iraq. noam chomsky seems to think that this memo is along the lines of the kind of thing that dwight eisenhower warned about in his ‘beware the military industrial complex’ farewell speech. they basically wanted the economic benefits of war, whether it be oil or whatever. the memo said that its a nice target since people do hate saddam and, in theory, it could be a better place with our help. its too bad they didnt follow through on that second part.

also, in the past, the military would usually cook its own food and create a lot of the supplies that are now handled by halliburton. the reason why i think this is better is because the military is a tax funded program whose sole purpose is helping america, not making profits. that means that taxpayers arent paying for some fat fuck owner to get extra cash in his pockets. we dont need to provide that motivation, we can just forcefully create the industry to supply the military, and not extract any profits from anybody. halliburton is extracting profits from the taxpayers and giving it to people like the owner of halliburton and dick cheney’s retirement package.

also, usually when the government contracts a third, profit making party to do work for them, they have more than one company propose plans, and then they pick the one that is cheapest and that best meets the demand. its kind of like that whole free market thing that some people think is good. they did no such thing when choosing halliburton. they just chose it. they didnt have to. but they did. fuck you, halliburton, and fuck you, whoever it is thats in charge of america.

in one of the vice presidential debates, john edwards says that cheney used to work for halliburton, and so perhaps the fact that halliburton got a no bid contract to do all the work in iraq might be a conflict of interest. dick says, in his signature “fuck off” tone of voice: “i used to work for halliburton”.

ill fucking kill you dick cheney, i know why you hide in that bunker. when he was in new orleans, talking to some news camera, some guy walks behind him and screams “fuck off!” (because thats what dick famously said to somebody who legitimately criticized him). i want to do that so badly. i will pretend to be a hardcore republican for so long if i just get the opportunity to scream that in public. and then i would assassinate him.

There is plenty of oil in Northern Russia and Central Canada. Not good places to invade at this time. But Venezuela has lots too, and recent events might make it a good place do a “police action.”

Why “the holy land” then?

Y’all ever watch those preachers on American TV early Sunday morning? Them and their hundred million “heartland” following are the real Zionists, the real supporters of the “War for the Garden of Eden.” Those church go-ers drive cars, sure, but it’s Jesus and Adam and Moses that really get them excited.

Sometimes (very sometimes) politicians don’t lie. The recent rhetoric about bringing democracy to the Middle-East is probably fairly true.

The WofMD issue was easy to sell to the public. The “oil war” is easy to sell to the anti-war-folks. I reckon the War in Iraq is a far more complicated issue than the “oil war” folks teach.

its only more complicated because there are more ways to make money than simply by harvesting oil. its the same old fascism. same old failure to ‘beware the military industrial complex’

G,

You could very well be right. I try to look into this stuff as indepth as I can but even then there is just too much disinformation going on these days.

You make a good point, perhaps I can point out another though.

If I were the US I wouldn’t be worrying about the oil in Canada because they don’t need to worry about anyone else taking it. They’ll come in and demand it eventually, you know they’ll make up some thing… possibly bomb a building on purpose, blame it on a Canadian rebel - something like that.

Iraq was different though, they weren’t allied with the US and so likely should have been the first target. It makes sense, if oil is scarce why mine the one in your own backyard rather than extending your might while your country can still operate. With the US’s deficit it’s getting to the point where they have to basically just fight their way into money. This part gets hazy though cause I’ve been seen Cheney say things like ‘No one is going to try and collect’ so… I dunno.

Politicians always lie. Personally I don’t think it’s religious at all. i think for the most part Christianity, in the sense that Bush addresses it is simply a method of control. The religion Bush subscribes to is something very different.

I think the war is way more complex than just oil… but I’m reluctant to agree that it’s got to do with religion. At least in the contemporary Christian sense.

In my relatively short experience I’ve leared it’s always about money, always.

When any of you graduate from an Ivy League and then become part of the White House, I might actually care about what you have to say, but as it is-- Shut the fuck up!!!

Can daddy enroll me in a secret society at yale and pay my way through school? Through coke addictions, car crashed, failed business (over and over)

If so then gimme 4 years and I’ll get back to you.

wait… your not seriously saying that anybody who went to an ivy league school and works at the white house should necessarily be trusted more than me are you?

scott mclellan works at the white house. dubya graduated from yale. enough said.

do you think any specific thing that any of us bush haters have ever said is fundamentally wrong, and why? how about anything specifically related to politics? im very interested, because its very rare that anybody gives me a sincere, fact filled counterargument. i wonder why you havent.

by the way, gobbo is talking about our commander in chief who you respect based on the place where his dad paid for college and his current employment. have you been to college? dont you know how stupid it is?

Future Man, I have more then once challenged the defenders
of the faith, to show me one, ONE, success from the bush
Years. Of course no can. The best anybody came up
was, ready, he was reelected. that’s it. the biggest
success story of the bush years is he was able to steal a
second election. TA DA. The enduring bush legacy will be
one of total failure. Now one might say tax cuts, and I reply,
the largest deficit in the history of the world, I don’t think that
the tax cuts were a great success. Unless you consider
debt to the tune of over (depending on which figures you use)
of over 25,000 per person, and if you add all American debt,
government and personal and business, you get a figure of
136,479 for every single man women and child in the U.S.
for a total of a over 40 trillion dollars in debt. Those kinds of
numbers are incomprehensionable. But any case, we have
the village idiot driving us into oblivion, I am sure some might
count that as his greatest success.

Kropotkin

hey nobody is gonna collect that debt, EVER. its money in the bank. all these left wing whackos talking about how bad the deficit is are talking about how bad it is for money to be flowing into america, where it will stay. but its actually good. right?

K: money works best when its spread around and keeps moving.
If money stops moving that when economies start to elfoldo.
As of right now, the money is starting to slow down. We are maxed
out in personal debt and that means we cannot borrow money
to push the economy, (one of the means to prime the economy
which is why they claim tax cuts works) There are no outside
sources of money that can restart the economy. We are going down!
