was wondering why Bush seems to be having such a time trying to find loopholes in the constitution they designed to protect their children from accidently hiring a tyrant and getting enslaved?
They sure have stuck it to him so far…
They sure must have loved us. IMO =D>
Any thoughts?
Why must someone become a hypocrite to force others from being hypocrites?
Reminds me of a guy on the throne beating down anyone who dares approach. Is the little people posessing ambition and intelligence a threat to his power and control?
Sounds to me like they are scared, because they care more about their own desires, than love for their peoples well being and growth. IMO
Well, not a fresh opinion, but I agree. I don’t disagree with all of his positions, but increasingly as his 2nd term plods along he seems to be attacking the Constitution with increased vigor. His “you’re with me or you support terror” shit is starting to get pretty old, too. His is a very un-American attitude.
I do not care for the man as a leader or individual, but remember he has done nothing worse than Clinton (preemtive attacks, lying under oath, and wire taps, nor Carter (wire taps and expoential inflation), nor Reagan (Iran Contra and nearly bankrupting us).
Hell, he is a lame duck, and hopefully he will not do more damage before his term is up.
Just remember, he has not done anything worse than say FDR! Try not to be hypocrits regarding this.
I think there’s a danger in modern political cynicism. Mind you, I’m guilty of it, too. Still, the merely pointing out that past presidents had faults doesn’t excuse the faults of this one. I was severely critical of Clinton, but in some ways Bush has been worse. Few politicians in the last half century have gone to such lengths to wipe their ass with the Consitution as has Bush. Granted, part of it is the times; at the time the Un-Patriot Act was signed, liberals were falling all over themselves to sign it next to conservatives. Not that the panic following 9/11 has died down a bit, we’re left to ponder what we did in its wake. Metaphorically we sobered up and awoke next to a 400 transvestite hook wondering what the fuck we did. To the credit, the liberal have been the quickest to try to undo the damage done…although to be honest, it’s probably an attempt at kneejerk obstructionism as much as any noble crusade.
Personally I think we live in very dangerous times, and the threat of Islamifascism is not the worst of it. We must very very careful of how we proceed from here on.
The Patriot Act is exactly the kind of thing that they used to do in Roman when there was an emergency and since we have a Republic it stood to reason that we would do it. In fact, I predicted that something like the PA would be created right after 911, because it fit the reality that we are an recreation of ancient Rome.
I agree about the Bush bashing…it is not going to solve anything.
I think it is up to us real americans to help him come up with some solutions to this threat. I am of the opinion for him to admit he doesn’t have a clue, and needs our help, would be admitting his failure. I really don’t want to see my kids and friends futures ruined by his pride.
If he has a viable plan…I think it needs to be explained to us in detail where every last one of us can understand and evaluate it. Or we need to put aside our petty differences and come together to solve it for him. we can deal with the other problems later.
Our “friends” over there are seeing the giant getting his ass kicked by a little country of “insurgents”, and are no longer afraid of us. Soon they will be jumping in to finish the giant who represents their fear off. Our loyal soldiers will be the first to get killed.
We can’t wait two years for a solution, or someone who truly knows what the hell is going on. Bush clearly has no concern about my kids. And if this problem could be simplified…we might find common sense might hold the solution IMO.
At the moment we are adjusting to globalization, similar to how we had to adjust to industrialization from a rural based economy. The economy is really not the problem, albeit, the deficit is. Bush is being hammered on all sides regarding this and illegal immigration.
Yes, our mainstream media reports all the bad news, and often jumps over the good news regarding the schools being built, the new calls regarding insurgents, etc. ; I read both sides.
There are many more. Yes, many have died, but eventually, I hope this may bode well for the future. Remember, Libya, growl, has even agreed to dismantle its pursuit of WMD’s. Also, look at a map, we are on Syria and Iran’s doorstep.
As Powel claimed: “Mr. President, you break it, you have to pay for it.” We ethically just leave as a huge blood bath will ensue, and civil wars are the bloodiest in human history.
I am concerned that the other middle eastern countries leaders are wondering “Am I next”?
As the oil runs low and the price goes up, they KNOW it is only a matter of time till they will screw up and disagree with us, and face “Bush’s” wrath as “terrorists” to his/our plans. what are they going to do?
What would YOU do?
They don’t make real estate anymore…and they don’t make oil anymore. Who is going to get the most?
Greed and lust don’t care how many humans have to die to fufill and satisfy the hunger they have to be filled. IMO
I only hope curiousity, survival, and love are stronger than them.
Actually it’s precisely what happened after the pearl harbor attack. The patriot act is far more endearing to our rights and the rights of arabs compared to the laws passed post pearl harbor.
War on terrorism, or war on Islam?
Does a war on Islam mean that all muslims are bad?
Did a war against the japanese mean that all japanese were bad?
Is an Islamic person necessarily Arab? Is an Arab person necessarily Islamic?
