PoR was way out of line on page three of the post “a challenge to PoR.” The question was raised if his outburst warranted a banning. If you are into this sort of thing please read the third page and cast your vote.

NOTE: This is not official or anything, I’m just being a dick, and I’m a little curious.

I voted Indifferent.

I think of PoR gets banned from here… he’s actually going to start killing black people in real life.

So in the intrests of ‘preserving (half) my race’ I say we just delete any stupid shit he posts.

or replace every offside comment with

As distasteful and poorly-thought out as I find his ideas, I do not think they warrent banning. Perhaps a warning to keep the ad homs down and perhaps a slightly more . . . how to say this delicately . . . concerned rhetoric regarding inflamatory subjects might be warrented. I do think he was out of line, but not ban out-of-line.
Even within his racist (errr, racialist) ideology, he presents a poorly developed thesis. It isn’t as though he is trolling and posting excepts from Mein Kampf.

There I fixed that for you.

I think definitely a warning, possibly a short temporary ban, just to let it sink in. I know it’s MB, but you want to keep it looking at least sort of civil. He ad hom’d a little too much. You don’t want to promote that. But overall, I think he’s just funny. I mean, no one agrees with him, so there’s really no harm. I just wish we could limit him from posting in serious threads.

I’ve mentioned before that what POR posts is a kind of pornography (if you read a good definition of what that word means). I get the sense that he makes his statements to lash out at people and hurt feelings for the purpose of his own amusement. The porn aspect of it all is the puerile spectacle that is made of a legitimate topic.

So, I think that he should be banned.

However, if the mods know that he’s a character designed to make a statement about people that think in the way displayed, then he should stay.

“It isn’t as though he is trolling and posting excepts from Mein Kampf yet.”

That happened a few months ago.

Ahh, but he placed them within the context of his own crazy ideas, did he not? If it was merely a post, and that’s all, then ban him.

The posts that make me think he is ban-worthy aren’t his inflamatory ones, but his waste-of-time ones. He does a lot of those.

POR, is a brain dead idiot. With that said, I don’t favor
banning anyone for any reason. He bothers you, don’t read him.

Kropotkin

but PoR’s posts are like little traps. as soon as you see his name on the “who started the thread” or “who posted last” thing, you know whatever’s in there is stupid. but it’s so amazingly stupid that you wanna read it, just to try and get some kind of grasp on the absolute magnitude of idiocy. and then once you do read it, you’re compelled to respond. i finally was able to quit reading anything he posted but for a while there every time he said something i had to see what it was just for the sake of argument.

if his totally wrong posts make you think about something you wouldnt have otherwise, what is the problem? are you crying because of his ad hominems or are you laughing at his unfounded arrogance? isnt laughing fun?

how much pain has he really caused. how many valuable threads has he destroyed, how many valuable members has he discouraged from joining, what did he cause to happen that you didnt choose to let happen.

the only people who should get banned are those who destroy something. por created the things that you are suggesting banning him for. if they make you so upset that you wish they were gone forever, you can do that without banning anyone: dont read it.

I am always surprised with his disguised intolerance and racism.

He may sound innocent, but Hitler could also sound innocent if he wanted.

Everybody laughs at his topics, but racism is everything but laughable…

A black man who reads a post from Pinnacle of Reason won’t be able to avoid offending him. He is deliberately mean. Maybe he just pokes at everyone, but I think (this is just an opinion) the mod Staff should consider the possibility of banning him, at least during some time.

  =D> =D>

The only people who ever deserve banishment from message boards are trolls.

PoR is not a troll, just a jackass. There’s a big difference.

Why a black man? Why not hispanic, asian or any of the other various races?

Psyque first.

psyque is the only professional and academical psychologist here, therefore he poses the role of a possible “fieldman” for existentialist philosophy as a whole. Existentialism would be better off with such men, rather than with only novelists and poets, the nature of which is too much indulged here. We need the scientific balance, under the guidiance of relevant philosophers such as Nietzsche, to achieve futherance in the field. As much as writers in general, individuals like psyque is a necessary fertilizer in the culticvtion of prospective creative soil, of a ground which needs as much as it can get. the incredible dry pedantry that guys like psyque present, is simply there to counter balance the wetness of other elements. The foremost task hence is to learn how to merge out a well proportionated mixture, which would prove to be very efficient for the soil. Back to the “fieldman” role that supposably psyque could be suited, by this I mean that the actual scientific methodological application into the first hand data or observations in most detailed layouts. That task, is primary, but neccesary and too often mistaken as a nonprequisite for philosophical reflection. Without such task to be accomplished with completion, philosophy goes under the name called “romance”, something perhaps our “fieldmen” all have to sacrifice. What makes a philosopher, is his romanticism and pragnmatism, he is potentially most balanced hence most encompassing. Percisely so, being a philosopher is by definition, most demanding and busy. Are philosophers busy? Do they read poetry? Do they experiment in t he laboratory? Not all of them, and not all the time, not at all. Philosophers need to know it all, have tried it all, read it all and thought about it all, otherwise, he poses little utility, he loses the all important balance hence encompassion. The best philosophers are not strictly philosophically trained, has been hstorically factual. We need world travellers, hobby collectors, multi cultural experiencers, mutil language manipulators and preferably, multi national and multi professional. Yes, that much it takes to be frutfully philosophical, that is what really gives the value of philosophy as a subject. Seeking for wisdom sounds pretty, but itself has no justification on its own, that motto describes a lot of studies, but surely doesn’t involve empty wonderings in the head, which unfortunately, is what many people waiste their time on. The most efficient way to avoid falling into the intellectual trap is to apply ideas into practice and gain ideas from practise and from there only. This application’s essence demands that science must be used as a tool, now we have returned to where we started.

Hello F(r)iends,

I think most posts in Mundane & the Rant House should not be subject to ban talk.
That aside: the only thing I could hold against Psyque is his prolixity.
I doubt that anyone should be banned based on that…

I like PoR, he’s like my kid’s Mickey mouse punch bag in jackboots, easy to hit, he goes down, only to pop back up ad-infinitum. Great value for absolutely no money.

Think of him as a scratching post, his arguments usually have more holes than actual words. He’s an exercise in linguistic negative space.

Even his name is wonderful. If I ever meet him, I’ll shake his hand. I’ll headbutt him a split-second later, but first, I’ll definitely shake his hand.

He’s been banned once, and he’s acting exactly like he did when he was. Precedent!

Really, I don’t think either of them should be banned just yet. I’m just saying that if we were going to ban someone for saying things like

POR sez:

There are more logical places to start.
