I had 3 nights in my life where I truly let myself loose and danced well, but besides that, I could never find myself getting into the right mindset, getting my body loose, and letting the music sweep me away. What tips can you give me to find my ability in this.
And you call yourself 1337, you dancing n00b?
But the answer is in your question. It’s like the opposite of quitting smoking. You must be displeased with the act of smoking, not with the fact that you smoke. Likewise, in order to get dancing, you must want to dance with all your might, not just have the idea that you should dance. I mean, why do you want to dance anyway? Is there a reason for you to dance if it doesn’t come naturally? If the will existed, it would crash down the mountain like a wild river and naturally find its way to the sea.
I wish I could answer this question properly but it is really difficult to say for another person. For me, dance comes from just below my navel, some call it ‘the second brain’. It’s where your carnal energy is stored and directed. Open it up, give it trust, let it do the work. I’d advise to try out what you’ve got down there in privacy.
To develop style, I’d say to practice dance with your toes, ankles, calves. Make your legs warm. For me dance really begins to feel nice when I feel the blood flow through my feet. This usually takes a while but when it happens, something really lets loose and hips are freed, and the knees are bending and stretching by themselves.
The one thing is to rely on your body to move and not try to decide how it should move. This is not just a matter of ‘letting go’ - it’s becoming aware of how the body wants to move. This is, I assume, different for all people. But I’m pretty sure the ‘second brain’ is involved in all good dancing. One more thing; hands. Many people do not know where to put them. It’s easiest to keep them near your second brain, (perhaps simply ‘gut’ would work too) Play with the energy there.
Now this all sounds pretty systematic, and that’s not what attracts people to dance. But dance is like music; you can just start to pound away on your instrument but that’s not going to be very rewarding, unless you’re really drunk. And even then it is better to have some idea of what you’re doing
The only difference is that in the case of dance, the instrument is your body. Nooone else can really teach you how to play it.
Yes. I think kundaline originates from the “palms” of your feet, the insides of your heels, your ankles, your calves upward. The friction between them may ignite your fire, like between two wooden sticks.
Hallucinogens are pretty good for breaking down inhibitions and imprinting this ability. Drinking also works but is less permanent.
The most important thing is to be with the right people at the right time with the right music.
Find a totally packed club that plays your favorite dance type music.
Get some new friends who are dance fanatics or go out by yourself and dance with total strangers.
Once you get the groove again do not let it atrophy like you did thid time.
How old are you jw? I just turned 18, so I can’t get in many clubs yet (I live in the states). Damn man I need to get to Europe.
