Canadian Housing Bubble

bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-18155405

Canada has a few advantages over the american economy- one of it’s largest growing area, the Edmonton-Calgary Corridor- called the greenest city on the planet- sustains it beautiful, utopia via dirty, polluting oil sands and gas deposits… it’s highest booms in it’s economy closely follows that of the international markets for oil… so when the Axis of Evil is doing good, Edmonton-Calgary is doing good, and it’s now one of Canada’s top metropolitan areas.

In Vancouver, it’s a culture trap like San Francisco where the non-breeders go to live their lives, such up the economic resources of others, then die. It has good ports, and can in theory rebound with it’s movie industry by mass producing stuff for Sci-Fi once again for American markets if need be.

If the markets collapse in Quebec, I see Canada just cutting Quebec off on it’s own then re-invading it. Why the hell not?

Toronto is all Canada has, and if it’s bubble bursts… it’s gonna become more renter and less buyer oriented for those who actually own the buildings, but it will massacre the construction trades… you can’t convert over to doing granite work or cabinet work on that scale.

Ottawa I don’t know cause I am a American and don’t even know it exists.

Yeah…

so I see the major hinge in this being green energy… if the world become more Green, and tries to be more like Calgary, Calgary is utterly fucked. Everyone will be homeless and locked out of their apartments… and this will just leapfrog to Toronto, then honestly, who cares about Vancouver… they are all there to under breed and die anyway, so maybe they will switch to monopoly money, and maybe Banana Republic will accept it? Possibly.

Another option is just chopping down a whole lotta trees, and flooding the international market with timber and paper products. Mo can become a flannel wearing lumberjack, balancing on a log.

So let’s keep our eyes on this Green Energy stuff. Longer Obama fails, the better it is for Canada. If Romney get’s in, the pipeline will be connected, the spice will flow, and Canada will grow richer than ever. If Obama is reelected, economy is going to slump- if the medical program is enacted, longer medical lines as we’ll suck up every third world doctor Canada and Europe farmed out, including Cuba, and will ship less and less medical supplies due to increased consumption. If that renewable green algae fuel becomes usable in normal gas pumps… Canada is utterly fucked. Like, whole country is homeless.

Lol wut

You write so much. I wish it wasn’t all made up rambling sometimes.

I would be aggressively surprised if you’ve ever been here.

Have been… few times… studying the Canadian in it’s native habitat, observing it’s behavior, it’s prejudices, and how it lives within it’s metaphysical understanding of the universe. Some places easier than others to blend into. Montreal’s little Notre Dame church was the most difficult… no one recognized me, and stood out despite being Catholic. Only damn time I’ve ever walked into a building and everyone’s head turned around to look at me. Was a mass, not a funeral or a wedding.

Sometimes I just stay up all night reading about Canada. It’s important stuff to know. It’s like Dave Chapelle investigating white people- it occurred one day to him no one knows what white people eat:

No one knows why Canadians do or say the things they do. It’s always deeply illogical, and off the kilter- but it somehow makes sense to them. The reason is why… why do they keep coming off so wrong?

This requires investigation, and sometimes a giant beaver suit to blend in.

I’m going to need to see some arguments, or everything except the OP is going to get branched off to a new thread in MB.

The arguments come with the responses Pav. People will need to watch the video from the BBC. Right now, it’s 6 on the west coast… people are tired and just getting off of work and are making dinner. There wouldn’t be a thread on this site that can survive the time crunch your putting on this thread.

My argument is already explained, now someone will say ‘agreed’ or ‘not agreed’ and will state reasons why. I will then perhaps say ‘you gotta good point there, the City of Toronto really figured this one out’ or more likely not when I whip out statistics and my understanding of Ekistics.

This is how philosophy works.

Same if we were having a debate… if I presented, I and finished… then after the first person responds… you jump up on the table and threaten to end the meeting within the first two minutes if progress isn’t made. Like… give the thread a few days. It’s based on economics and ekistics… fully legitimate for this section. Canadian Housing Bubble shouldn’t be booted if the White Racism thread stays. The news source is the BBC.

This is way too much pressure from a fellow American to boot. Remind me never to talk about Ohio Issues on this site.

Can you give an example here? Cause making beer stronger makes perfect sense. That’s about all we do, and grow pot.

I can’t think of a country more unintelligent, reactionary, and just all around… police state lack of rights fucked than the US, so this explanation should be pretty good coming from an American.

Canada is nicely placed to benefit from Global Warming.

I think North Korea is pioneering new advances in that field Gobbo, but thanks for the vote of confidence. (<— I use that quote of yours as my example you requested)

Yes, Canada is in a sense from global warming, isn’t it? However, large parts of it and Alaska- including Fairbanks, is a desert because of low precipitation. Half of Russia as well. None the less, it’s largely a good thing. We will be able to move alot more population to Canada and Alaska and Russia. Imagine how thrilled Scandinavian will be to bring in the warring tribe of the Sub-Sahara and outer edge of the Congo rainforest once that region collapses back into deep desert! More population means more taxes, which means more socialism. It’s a win win for them in fixing the ration of collapsing demographics in ratio to arable, temperate land. President of Russia will be black. Governor of British Columbia will be from the regions largest Bangladesh refugee colony in the province, third generation, and Canadians will fall inlove with spicy foods… it will all work out.

Canada is already multicultural.

In both Toronto and Vancouver whites are the minority.

You haven’t been to Canada.

For the NAs its been multicultural since the French and English came over with their diseases and Jesus.

Never said Canada wasn’t multicultural, your misdirecting because your defensive that your nationalism is under attack (that’s so red state of you Gobbo)- however, Canada is racist, this much is certain. Yes- Canada didn’t have much to do with slavery- hard to grow Cotton in the Hudson Bay area… but you talk to Canadians today, and they are open to immigration, just so long as it’s not of the pattern of Asians heavily embedded on the west coast (some of the worst anti-asian comments come from Canadians from my experience), or immigrants from south america and the middle east replacing the workers in the city as a latch ditch effort to cover the demographic collapse. However, your native population is growing rather well given the government subsidies… which only creates more racism. Do you want me to touch upon the Quebec situation?

Yeah… never once said Canada wasn’t multicultural, just I know it makes a great many of you cringe. I laugh at this as my ancestors were Pennsylvania Dutch- looked down on during the colonial period, have a little jewish blood, had a black man room with my family in west virginia for years (worked in the mill) and treated him as a uncle, grandfather married a vietnamese woman (only person in my family I liked) and I’ve dated almost exclusively foreigners, and usually live in ethnic neighborhoods. Canadians seems to be adjusting slower to this phenomena… the

damn, lost my train of thought, security issues on the property, just getting back- been a while since I began writing this…

Yeah, Canadians are adapting slower, just like northern Europe. It’s one thing to say your a open and tolerant society, especially if your teacher and politicians tell you this, by you gotta question why it is they are telling you in the first place… if you really were, you wouldn’t need to be told. Canada has bloc and race issues, and it’s alot worst in a lotta ways down south of the border. Only reason you think so is because it’s fashionable to compare Canada to a American Stereotype without investigating to see if it’s sound or current.

Contra-Nietzsche spent quite a lot of effort the other day explaining how much he hates the BBC for banging on about ‘Da JEWS’, among other reasons, yet it seems to be his main source of information.

Very odd.

Also, despite being so well travelled (allegedly), he only sees the bad in places beyond US borders.

Very odd.

I listened to the BBC in Iraq, and continue to listen to it here. I listen and read a wide variety of news sites, from The People’s Daily English to India Today to random google searches for random country’s new sites in English. It’s useful information to have for arguments. I second this up my emailing English bloggers in these countries, and ask them questions. I common question I ask is ‘do you know anything about the local philosophers there’… most people answer no, but it turns out they always know something, just don’t think so and so is a ‘philosopher’ in the hyped up meaning of the word.

And of course I am only going to seek out the bad aspects of a society. I’m not there to bring back secrets of how their cotton production works, or how they superiority frame their houses or secrets of crop rotation they know locally… I’m there to figure them out.

You highlighted my method. I don’t hide this. My interests focus on what causes men to hate one another, the evolution of conflict, and of course the basis of bias against others, especially when we’re on the served end. I like to see if that shit actually measures out against what actually happening there. Canada is notorious for talking shit with very little to show for it in return, and it’s hardly a modern phenomena. Canada isn’t the only one doing it, and it’s not just the US getting blasted. You see this in other similar locations where a once unified people are torn apart: North Korea and South Korea, East and West Germany, North and South Vietnam, the german states, the italian states, China and Taiwan, Sudan even since the Madhi’s War, India and Pakistan, Uraguay and Brazil, Peru/Chili and Bolivia. It’s not the same as Brazil and Portugal, or Italy and San Marino, England and India, Australia and Papua, or Russia and Belarus. It was more peaceful the split, and they have enough similarities where it counts, a good shared history, and enough differences where it doesn’t matter that they go their own way. Canada attacked America, killed alot of good neighbors, and lost the war- and had no just cause to claim. They have nothing but spite to cover up the collective wound, and wounds like that can last thousands of years. Russians are still pissed about the Teutons.

Try taking some of all that and directing it towards your own country, rather than bitching about everyone else’s…

We call them “premiers” here.

I’m aware of that.

But you said a bunch of things that made it sound as if another culture being injected into ours would, at all, make any difference. It would be like taking a prodding stick to an industrial fan.
