Cause and effect?
When I read a book, is it the fault of the writer or the reader? Is my mind perceiving symbols and then internally turning those symbols into ideas which I feel for? But suppose I was exposed to a movie, or the words of my fellow man. Now who would I blame for the effects of these within me? Each is still my own mind turning symbols into meaning; in essence, "reading" the world in whichever way I shall. Within me, I would be causing and being effected by my cause, both at the same time.
The process of the mind's turning of perception into meaning -- is one which cannot easily be "switched off", and is much like the act of breathing. A person is only kidding themselves when they claim that their perceptions do not change who they are in some way. Adds are proof enough of this. It is not simple when the individual finds himself in the middle of the concepts of "free-choice" and "mind-conditioning", both at the same time.
Blame: what a strange game this is, as it only bares a few [often diseased] fruits between humans. Who is responsible? How will "justice" and "morality" save us this time? The idea of "cause and effect" -- has in many ways -- become a morality, which was made for the sake of functional methodologies between persons. Somewhere between "force" and "freedom", this strange thing lies.
