Having been receiving petitions via email for years now, and submitting my support to the ones I believe need support, I have seen the influence they have had on a global scale, and out-dated decisions be overturned in back water countries that would never have been overturned otherwise… leaving people to rot in third world prisons or be executed by some primitive means that whatever country they were sentenced in uses.
Unethical medical decisions being overturned also shows that power in numbers has influence over the decision makers who sometimes make bad decisions that are not in a patients best interest.
The environmental petitions… mainly against the big corporates like Monsanta and Bayer etc. are the most difficult to influence, which is obviously very telling of what is important to Governments the world wide.
Petitions hilight causes that we would not otherwise know about or have to think about. I received the below over the course of the last 24 hours… which I think is a record, and with each one I become that bit more aware of the plight of an individual or the planet.
I support many of those causes. The one thing I have noticed is that causes are competing and flooding sites and seem to actually turn people off by this. The net can be so useful for this, there must be a better way.
Too few beers and too many issues lately and not enough hours in the day. Yet I , my family and my babies at work get up and laugh and play everyday laughter and play are great meds.
This is a case of herd morality having it’s pros and cons.
Aristocratic morality has it’s pros and cons.
Eventually it subsumed with mad kings and inbred minds making generally poor and insane decisions.
Hillary Clinton is an example of this, she has several physical health issues and mental decay.
Herd morality is equally flawed, it is a conglomerate of low IQ reactionaries in caps lock deciding what “ought” to be done. Herd morality is potentially more dangerous, since “who” can argue with the opinion of the majority?
The DnA machine will change all this, and increase the strength and morality of both the herd and it’s leaders.
I really have zero opinion about anthems , could not care less. I find countries , borders that are based on politics not health ridiculous. As far as your link to the releasing of the video, well it took me straight to petition signing. I can’t do that until I have all facts. I do know that releasing evidence can be more harmful then good. It influences potential juries for the good or bad. The media here has caused a lot of problems in that area of government.
My view is that the effect of causes depends on the audience. For example, for decades the West has taken up the cause of saving the elephants, rhinos, tigers, who often end up being harvested for dubious “medical” uses among a set of clients who are blind and deaf to the conservationist’s cause. There is therefore some influence created by well organized causes but mostly limited and certainly never “global”.
Here’s something I learnt earlier: actions.sumofus.org/a/merck-hor … ce=fwd&t=1 I’m sure that these extractions could be carried out in a more humane way, or is it just cheaper to continue on with the old cruel method?
I thought you’d be onboard with that one… I never knew that that kind of thing existed… extracting blood from a horse (from any thing) for the pharmaceutical industry.
I can see extracting life saving chemicals in a humane way but, this is so wrong and disgusting. Sad that no one on my facebook acknowledged it. But, they do acknowledge cute things. Love my family and friends but, sometimes I just wonder at our differences. I think I will post it again just to see wether they may have missed it.
