chavez is totally insane

I have been watching pres. Chavez of venezuela
addressing the U.N… He is completely insane.
Even people in the background was laughing at him.
which is impressive at a diplomatic place like
the U.N. He is a showman, I will give him that.
man, its impressive that the village idiot incompetence
has made this insane person have any kind of voice in
central and south america.

Kropotkin

What stupid things did he say?

Chavez is bold and is playing a dangerous game.
He’s banking on the fact that the U.S. is presently militarily stretched-tight and has lost political credibility on the world stage.

The first risk was when he started using the Euro for his economic dealings.
Then this friendly relationship with Cuba.

He’s playing for keeps.

eugene: What stupid things did he say?"

K: trust me, it will be on every newscast from here
to Timbuktu for days to come. Just turn on any news station.
It will be there.

Kropotkin

and the truly funny thing is, he got bigger
applause at the end of his speech then bush.

An insane person got more applause then bush.
You bush apologist should worry.

Kropotkin

i actually agree with a lot of what chavez thinks. im not that fond of what he wants done though. and working up a war ferver against america though probably not his intention is basically what hes doing which is kind of scary… though he doesnt blame the american people. convincing everyone to hate a government without that hate carrying over to the countries people is probably out of chavez’s capabilities or anyones for that matter. so if the world hates me because of chavez ill probably be a little upset.

to some extent though he could be viewed as a stabalizing force in the sense that hes taking the voice from probably more radical people. if iran and cuba speak through chavez then they might have the need to act at all. not that cuba would do anything just saying…

So why is he crazy Peter?

No one is advancing the cause that you purport to support more than Chavez, and if you look at his country (and surrounding countries guided by his influence) he is doing a pretty fine job of it!

While his rhetoric gets a little extreme at times, his actions are in step with his (and I thought your?) philosophy.

I agree.

He’s playing the challenging comedian that makes a joke and then slaps your face.

Latins will love him for his audacity. It would not be right to speak about an inferior county like this, but there’s honor in taking on a giant, while maintaining humor. That’s what he may being doing if he’s not really insane

From what I understand, he is trying to help the poor people in his country, and the rich people are getting annoyed, so he must be going something right.

Xunzian:So why is he crazy Peter?

K: bush as the devil and the rostrum still smelling like
sulphur?

X: No one is advancing the cause that you purport to support more than Chavez, and if you look at his country (and surrounding countries guided by his influence) he is doing a pretty fine job of it!

K: I actually agree with most of his speech, but still I maintain
anybody who makes statements about the devil and sulphur is nuts.

X: While his rhetoric gets a little extreme at times, his actions are in step with his (and I thought your?) philosophy."

K: Oh, I have no problem with his rhetoric or even his actions,
but comparing bush with the devil and sulphur is nuts.

Kropotkin

Devil and sulphur

That’s a joke.

In the mundane section I started a thread called Revolution From Your Bed, and I believe this relates. You can’t have world change by being a polite and pleasant person.

It does not work that way. That is for after the bad times are over.

However, you have to have a balance. He’s having success in his country, so talking trash is a strategy. The guy from North Korea is not doing a good job, so he sounds like a fool, and dresses like one, on the style tip.

Kropotkin,

Your ability to blame everything on Bush is astounding.

-Thirst

thirst4metal: Kropotkin,
Your ability to blame everything on Bush is astounding."

K:Hellooooooo, anybody home. I said chavez is crazy
for comparing bush to the devil and the podium
still smells of sulphur. At no point did I blame bush
for anything, in fact, if I was to attack bush I would
have agreed with Chavez and said bush is the devil,
and smells of sulphur. I DID NOT. I actually defended
the village idiot by saying he is not the devil.

Kropotkin

Peter,

You know about the highway. Please put an insane Chavex and Bush together, I think you know what the equation equals.

And the liberal lies continue…

-Thirst

jeez, I actually defend the village idiot and I still
get attacked. un-freaking-believable.

Kropotkin

You were not attacked…
And your lies are plainly visible.

-Thirst

I think that if I were Chavez, I wouldn’t mind so much being called insane. It sure beats the name calling that most of the political leaders in the West get on a daily basis.

I think a better term for him would be guileful, but that’s just my pov.

thank you for acknowledging Chavez’s insanity, it gives you a little bit of credit with me. (which i sure you worry about)~said with sarcasm

i don’t beleave they were laughing at Chavez, they loved what he said, hense the applause.

this applause is just more proof that the un is a usless place to put money, they do nothing of any good anywere, unless you look into the lining of there own pocket. they put dictators, theives, and despots in places where they can continue to be dictators, theives, and despots, yet sweep it all under the table so every thing looks nice.

this applause just puts one more nail into the un’s coffin, america doen’t like what it has done, and what has been said there. i well jump for joy that day we leave the un, i may even giggle like a school girl

Is it less offensive for Rumsfeld to compare Chavel’s election victory to that of Hitler’s and for Rice to called Venezuela’s democratic system a “Latin brand of populism”?

.

I don’t think it’s any different, KM. Once Bush named the nations that constitute the Axis of Evil, he became fair game for these types of comments. It may be a bit disrespectful for Chavez to do it in the US; but as that’s where the UN General Assembly is addressed, it’s not like he had a choice in the matter.
