To make this a little easier, skip the cloves, cardoamom, and chili powder and just use curry powder. You could delete the ginger unless you have fresh root available. The rest is needed for a bit of texture in the sauce. It would cut down prep time and the necessary shopping for ingredients.

It’s a type of spice often found in baltis.
Cardamom is an extremely pungent spice. Good stuff, Maynard. It is also a strong colorant. Get it on your clothes and it becomes permanent. The stuff can stain stainless steel!
