Nietzsche was wrong, damned wrong to equate Christianity with emancipation. Christianity is nothing more than mass mind control, how does turning the other cheek, giving the shirt off your back entail liberty? Asceticism (that is, extreme asceticism) implies slavery. Forgiveness implies slavery. Jesus, no, now Spartacus, Mazdak, those two were freedom fighters. The only reason Nero, Diocletian and others attempted to eradicate Christianity and Manichaeism (many Roman Emperors adopted Stoicism) was they wouldn’t worship Caesar. Once the emperors pretended to adopt Christianity (Constantine), the Roman Empire was able to maintain their existence under a new guise (Roman Catholicism). There’s nothing really radical or revolutionary about Christianity
The Greeks, Romans, English and French gave us freedom and equality, not Jews
Not Jews, but Bacon, Locke, Montesquieu, Voltaire, Rousseau, Smith, Paine, Ben Frank, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, the magna carta, the bill of rights and constitution gave us universal suffrage and egalitarianism (or some semblance of). The European people have been the great liberators of mankind… then again… maybe both.
