Christianity VS. Judaism

I would like to debate Christianity with someone, i am a very opinionated jew and i would like someone to show me where i have gone wrong… because the way i see it, i cannot be proven wrong

What’s the difference between them?

as far as i can tell christianity belives that the original god(the jewish god) got a good retirement plan and stepped down… why???

What’s the difference between them?

what do you mean whats the difference? there is no comparison between them?!

Oops. Double post.

So they believe that god from the old testament is retired?

What do jews believe?

that he stuck around. lol

Jews believe in the OT. No new covenant. They adhere to the laws of the old testament and the oral law which was passed down from god to moses at Sinai. There’s no hell, no devil, no demons. They don’t believe in saved by grace, but rather “saved” by actions. There are many varying sects…such as…

reconstructionist - most liberal

reform - most common in US and very liberal. generally do not keep kosher, will light fires on the sabbath…do not follow the oral tradition.

conservative - a step up from reform. most popular in europe. sort of keep kosher…will drive on the sabbath but compromise by parking four blocks from the synagogue so no one sees them driving. will have woman rabbi’s.

modern orthodox - will keep kosher but will still eat things not cooked by a jew. don’t keep ordinances such as cholov yisroel (milked by a jew) or pas yisroel (bread baked by a jew). won’t drive on the sabbath. hold by the orthodox union for kosher standard. that little circle with a “u” in the middle you see on a lot of food.

charedi - keep every law and ordinance to a t. follow everything extremely strictly that is both in the OT and instituted by the rabbi’s. oral law carries the same weight as the written law.

I could go into a LOT more detail…and will if asked.

as for the person who posed the question…do you really want to be proved wrong in your beliefs?

Hmmm… from what I know of Christianity they believe that God is Trinitarian, that he has three person in one God. ONE GOD IN THREE PERSON.

Therefore God is still up there when God who became man came down and God the Holy Spirit is still here to sustain the faithful.

Highly philosophical concepts, that is why theology, in most Christian setting, is never taken if you don’t have any philosophical degree.

No i do not want to be proven wrong in my beliefs and no it wont happen, but yes i would like to pose the following question… is anyone here a well versed christian so that i can pose to you the next few questions?

and by the way KOIFER whats your deal… are you a koifer? cause if so i would love to have a good shmooz with you .

how about a well versed jew? I’m chassidic…I think I could do the trick. are you sure I can’t change your mind? what do you observe anyway?

ask liteninbolt the questions. he seems highly intelligent and well versed. you won’t sway him though. he’s pretty set. admirable really. even if I do squabble with him occasionally. just don’t tell him I said that.

you bet. bonified koifer. word!

I’ve been riding the subways too often recently.

i am a very jew, what do you think you can do ?? sway me? not a chance…

so you do what youve been taught and dont believe it, you dont observe at all or you do believe what is your situation?

so you do what youve been taught and dont believe it, you dont observe at all or you do believe what is your situation?

I’m still in the community. If you understand chassidic communities you’ll understand how hard it is to get out. I go through the daily routines…modeh ani…shachris…brachos…mincha…etc. No one knows. Once I can finally get out…I will. If you met me…you would have no idea. I have to stay this way.

forgot to say I don’t believe.

whoops.

in most cases like yours its not the religion that you despise, it usually rooted from something else… so lets start from the top… do you have a few minutes?

of course.

and yes…I hate the rabbi’s. I hate the molestation, the corruption, the intimidation. I hate the restrictions. I hate it all. I hate god for letting it all happen.
