Good Coffee Habits

Here are some other tips to help you keep your coffee habit as healthy as possible:

Some people feel the buzz of caffeine more than others. Listen to your body and know when to say “when” to that extra cup of coffee, even if your friend says he can drink it 'til the cows come home and still get a good night’s sleep.

Most research suggests that drinking one to three cups of coffee a day (up to 300 milligrams of caffeine) does not seem to have any negative effects in most healthy people. However, pregnant women, children, people with heart disease or peptic ulcers, and the elderly may be more susceptible to the effects of caffeine and are advised to restrict caffeine.

Be aware that the caffeine content of coffee varies widely depending on roasting and brewing methods as well as the size of the cup you’re drinking. For example, a recent study showed that a 16-ounce cup of the house blend at Starbucks had an average of 259 milligrams of caffeine compared with only 143 milligrams in the same-sized cup of coffee at Dunkin Donuts.

Although coffee is the main source of caffeine for many people, other items, such as soft drinks, tea, chocolate, and cold and headache medicines also contain caffeine and can add substantially to your daily caffeine quota.

Regular coffee drinkers who skip their daily java fix may experience temporary “caffeine withdrawal” (usually in the form of a headache or drowsiness), but these symptoms will go away within 24-48 hours or after getting a new dose of caffeine.

Some medications may interact with caffeine. Consult with your health care provider or pharmacist about potential interactions with caffeine whenever you take medications.

Over 53 countries grow coffee worldwide, but all of them lie along the equator between the tropic of Cancer and Capricorn.

An acre of coffee trees can produce up to 10,000 pounds of coffee cherries. That amounts to approximately 2,000 pounds of beans after hulling or milling.

The percolator was invented in 1827 by a French man. It would boil the coffee producing a bitter tasting brew. Today most people use the drip or filtered method to brew their coffee.

With the exception of Hawaii and Puerto Rico, no coffee is grown in the United States or its territories.

Up until the 1870’s most coffee was roasted at home in a frying pan over a charcoal fire. It wasn’t until recent times that batch roasting became popular.

Each year some 7 million tons of green beans are produced world wide. Most of which is hand picked.

This is great embracetrees. I wouldn’t have thought to research the number of benefits of coffee. So now I’ll start drinking coffee more. Thank you embracetrees for helping me on my way to a new adiction.

When someone says the word “coffee”, in order to philosophise about it, I then word-associate it, yeilding the following result, “caffeine” and “stink”. I reconmand out of a kindly heart, especially to adulescent coffee drinkers, to switch to tea. If you word-accosiate “tea”, you’ll get something like “green” and “tai-chi”. Tea is also a perfect drink for philosophers, who tends to live long and use their mind tranquilly. Tea is taking over the healthy part of coffeine Britian, or even Germany. I call for a national ban on coffee in tea nations such as India and China, along with the drink’s cuban brother, cigar. Coffee with sugar simply repells me with the left over smell in my mouth, or more so in others’ mouths. That’s not to say that I could stand the nutty taste of coffee without sugar. If my analogy of beer as horse urine stands firm, then I’d compare coffee with banlangen, a notoriuos Chinese herb that grows on rotten grassy hillsides. Tea is the best theupitical herb there is. It comes in hundreds of varieties each with gorgeously distinct natural flavour. Tea houses are as popular in China nowadays as pubs are in England. It’s good for the national health without a doubt. To learn the delicate art of tea drinking, with linkage to concerns in medicine, history and even philosophy, please check out below.

Now, have you been enlightened and just can’t waite to have a cup of fresh Ooolong Cha? Ha, good for you! You can order now by killograms by…

Ok, I’ll stop now.

“No meals between meals, no coffee: coffee spreads darkness. Tea is wholesome only in the morning. A little, but strong: tea is very unwholesome and sicklies one o’er the whole day if it is too weak by a single degree. Everybody has his own measure, often between the narrowest and most delicate limits. In a climate that is very agacant, tea is not advisable for a beginning: one should begin an hour earlier with a thick, oil-less cocoa.”- Nietzsche

Just wanted to make sure you knew this, Uniqor. I’d hate to think you were drinking tea in an agacant atmosphere, in the mornings.

I love coffee dearly. For a preparatory beverage that has substance and brings with it the impact of a meal, that is, an immediate effect on the body and a sense of fullness in the gullet, it is well beyond anything else that can be drank. And now, we are finding that it is a healthy beverage. Things couldn’t have worked out better for me because I’ve been drinking coffee for a long time.

My appreciation and taste for coffee developed at the age of fifteen, specifically during a spring season when I was hiking frequently. I drank it black in the mornings upon waking with no breakfast.

Mmmmmmm…

Good to the last drop.

What about the effects of coffee on those with a high metabolism?

Is it good for those who get sedated and tired when drinking coffee to continue drinking?

coffee is so gross though…

but i love the smell of it

But have you tried drinking coffee while riding a bicycle? I have… and it was fun!

That’s why you cover up the taste of coffee with cream and sugar.

No, but when I was in Amsterdam I once saw a man riding a bicycle while smoking a cigar and I instantly thought that it was the coolest thing ever…
