Anybody with Cog Sci graduate training out there?

I got questions - How much money do you make? What do you do? Where do you work? Was it worth it?

Anybody with An MA or PhD in Cog Sci or know anybody that does please respond.

if it is about the money then cognitive science is right now the best you can do with your (albeit very meager) philosophy training…of course the gist of the philosophy side is total nonsense and in a decade or two cognitive science will denounce the “philosophical” (and I use that term very loosely) side…so if you do a masters in that area make it a research masters in which you spend a most of your credits on doing on of the sciences connected to cognitive science so that at least you’re of some use. The easiest choice for someone as useless as a philosophy student is then to do cognitive psychology since that is no doubt the easiest area and the area still filled with the most crap.

White Lotus really, if you don’t know anything about cognitive science please don’t clutter up my post with your hun noise. I’m curious about a field and I’d like some practical information. When you’re ignorant of something, best to stay silent and keep em guessing, than to open your mouth and Prove em right.

kiddo I’m connected to the summerschool of cognitive science at the University of Amsterdam. Everybody knows that the relationship between philosophy and cognitive science is one that is falling apart as scientists more and more go their seperate way, indicating that cognitive science is slowly becoming a real science. So if you want to be employed in that field you’d do well to stop being an idiot and focus on a science as much as possible. since you are incompetent cognitive psychology is the best field since that field is still filled with incompetent people.

And perhaps you might want to take a look at the amount of responses your post has had so far…not too many people that feel like helping your sorry ass, perhaps you should consider what that says about you.

I don’t know, I’m not too worried about the number of responses I’ve received. I’m surprised such A tough philosophy hermit as yourself would resort to a quantity equals quality argument. Most of my stuff goes unanswered because it’s obscure. I’m fishing, I realize it. Sometimes you catch stuff and sometimes you don’t. I mean Montaigne? and who the fuck is La Boetie? people have to be asking themselves. And what about this mention of the TAZ? Is he really talking about Disney characters?

Philosophy, like art, is a struggler’s game. The elements LAUGH in you face. A cold wind (or parent) doesn’t care about your weltenshuang. Furthermore, philosophy is dead, and the parts still limping along are too complicated for the lamen. If anything we should be crystallizing whatever is useful to the commoner, get that stuff into the DNA of all that’s happening bad in the world.
