Death only exists as something that happens to other people. Ultimately, to me, it is nothing.
Less abstractly I’m comforted by natural processes: chances are, when you’re approaching death, you won’t even know it; you’ll either be in a coma or so demented that you won’t know what’s going on anyway.
Even less abstractly, to quote Sublime: Fuck it or fight it, it’s all the same.
I was picturing a person who was consumed by the idea that thier death is inevitable. Sometimes people get too focussed on that and become stressed and less productive and what not. I don’t think death is the only thing that motivates people, but you’re probably right about it motivating many people in many ways. When I said to ignore it, I didn’t mean to ignore it and just lay around and do nothing or waste your life. I was leaning more toward something like, don’t focus on death and let it stress you out, just ignore it and live the best life you can. Stressing out about it wont make it go away.
