it annoys me, constantly, that people cannot seem to start the motor here. as though all the gears in their heads are rusted together and won’t turn. when a line of people at a restaurant is waiting to order and another person enters, walks around the line to the other side of the counter and says “is this where i order?” i want to hit them with a pipe. but i don’t, because that would be assault and assault is bad.
so i’ve changed my angle of attack. i’ve decided to write a book about common sense for the everyday man (or woman, as the case may be.) the major problem i’ve run into is that in the first chapter, “Why Using Common Sense Is Important,” i’ve discovered that for someone with the ability to utilize this method of thinking, it’s very difficult to describe, because it’s common sense to use common sense for those of us with common sense.
this thread doesn’t make any sense… sorry i’m bad at writing sometimes.
if you understand what i mean, could you give me some tips on writing this chapter? i’m having a lot of difficulty other than the one note i’ve come up with: “-It will make your life easier.”
I suspect that most folks have common sense, what they don’t have is awareness of what is around them. Too many see themselves as the center of everything and expect the world to adjust to them. They would actually use common sense if they pulled their cell phones out of their… well, you know. I sort of like the pipe idea… How about one of those foam plastic bopper sticks? Just reach out and touch someone… nah, it’s still assault. Nice to dream though.
Obw,
You need to start a new thread and use your link as the OP again. We sort of need it. The line between the religion and philosophy forums is getting blurred. A whole bunch of people are floating at about 20,000 ft.
The first step to some kind of universal common sense is to realize that all common sense is subjective, what is common sense to one group is not to another. Also to realize there is a difference between universal common sense and common sense of the individual, and that people need both.
ah… the word common sense… sense it self isnt common as youve seen and so things that can be judged as common sense aernt werth noting for those of us who understand and have lots of sense.
common sense is the amount of sense the common person has, which is not much at all.
it shouldnt be a book about common sense but just sense.
i understand what your saying though.
when it comes down to it, all bad things are cased by stupidity and ignorence.
