Conflict as a form of entertainment

If you’ve ever tried to compose a plot based story, you’ll know that a main character must want something, and a conflict must stop him/her from having it.

Why?

Why are we so enthralled with conflict of every kind. My guess is that when we see a character whom we identify with, we see how we might respond to conflict if given that same situation. Benificial, right? Maybe not, since we consumer stories that are constantly centered on conflict, and our enitre real life is then spent identifying a problems. Almost anticipating them, without a moments peace.

Secondly, why is good in fiction considered boring. Why is bad in fiction considered enticing. My guess is that it’s all a rehearsal for death. I heard that somewhere.

Anyway, art is a way to put order to chaos. I heard that its the only order humans will ever know. Which leads to my final comment.

If we create art, order out of chaos, then must god look down on chaotic little world and think . . . perfect ??

Rant over. Ramble on.

sometimes when I see war on tv, I say to myself, wow my inner conflict has just expressed itself.

how does that sound?

if you watch planes trains and automobiles, the movie, you’ll find that hostility and frustration of another, is rather funny.

its a release to see another struggle, but why>?
