Controlling negativity

Suppose a family argument has just erupted: what theatre, what cacophony! Then suddenly a friend who is appreciated and respected by everyone appears at the door…

Immediately everyone makes an effort to put on a good face. They even look kindly at one another so the friend will not notice they were in the midst of a crisis.

And we can draw conclusions from this for our inner life.

When turmoil and anger and frustration erupts within you, if you begin to meditate , you will find that everything suddenly becomes calm and you find peace and joy again.

As though a friend had come to visit , and had calmed the situation back to normal.

The friend is you yourself.

The friend is you yourself yes , when you can control yourself .

What happens after the friend leaves? Is the quarrel forgotten or worse than before?

That depends on you does,nt it.

Hi Doll,

I have never understood negativity. I was raised in a house with epic amounts of if which has turned out to be a huge advantage as an adult. I am so happy to be away from that environment that I have raised a very happy family. We party together, and rarely have “issues.” I could write a book on the issues that my mother had when we were children. Now, I have perspective. If you keep calm and find your center, very little can get you crazy. I wish I could bottle it, really - and sell it, but honestly… I would never have had it if it weren’t for my lonely and bitter childhood. You need see what I have seen to wake up with cherry pie and sunshine on your plate.

Want a piece? Take it for yourself.

Thats true , we need negativity to learn . The Principle of yin and yang .

I think homemade cherry pies/strudels with a fresh vanilla whipped cream is amazing .

In fact Im in the mood for making pies now next week , at least a cherry and an apple , maybe a strudel . I much prefer fresh things . But hate buying over priced organic and “specialist” cakes etc.

Cutting throught that pastry to reveal raisins and chunks of glazed apple , as the cream melts and runs down , packed with the flavour of fresh vanilla , Im overwhelmed , I fall off my chair in ecstasy, cream and pie everywhere , aaaaaaaaaaa !?knaa?!!?*

Ta dahhhh! Check out my apple pie. I posted a picture of it.

I will give you the recipe if you want… or come by and I will make you one.

By the way, Doll, I am so glad you came here. You make me laugh - and I haven’t done a lot of that since a guy named Tabula Rasa left.

Glad to have you on board! Let’s kick up all this SERIOUSNESS! Hands in the air!!

  on the cream/pie/ecstasy thingy

That looks like a good thanksgiving spread.

negativity is everywhere. the way im starting to look at it is; view life as a fairytale. there are evil people, there are fake people, there are people as pure as snow. treat everyone nice, but only spend your energy on the pure as snow people. life is a fairy tale, be a speck of dignity in a pool of sludge.

also, sometimes there are pure as snow people, who due to their circumstances had to become slightly fake, spend you time and energy on them as well, they need it most.

GH,

I like that. Wise words.

Fairytales are about human life , put into stories for the young especially .
Its not that we should pretend life is a fairy tale because its negative much of the time .

Its seeing that the virteous qualities we are impressed by in fairy tales are reflections of what exists in the human heart and spirit.

I dont view life as a fairytale , but the fairytale as a sign of hope , that humans are good deep down .

The revenue from fantasy and alike is so huge for good reason . Its because these films and books correspond with a psychic process inside of ourselves.

Like the knight Parsifal, who must cross dark forests, fight enemies and formidable giants, and elude snares, the disciple meets with darkness, temptations, dangers and enemies in his personal life.

Once all these obstacles are overcome, Parsifal comes to a marvellous castle whose walls are decorated with gold and precious stones, where he is welcomed with solemnity; and it is here that he is allowed to contemplate the Holy Grail, the sacred vessel.

The sight of the Grail symbolizes the supreme reward for the person who never ceases to nourish in his mind and heart the highest ideal: to acquire the inestimable gifts of the Spirit

thanks Bess. disciple of light- do you believe that some people are naturaly evil?, or that; some people choose to become evil?? this is an extremely difficult question for me… about a year ago i had a spiritual exp. …at first i was convinced that all humans are naturally pure, and that if there not pure, its because they are confused. i still hold that to be true, for some people. however im starting to wonder if some people are truthfully evil (by choice). i would refer to them as a self actualized evil person,no fake evil ego. just honest evil. i wish it wernt so but… also when your life is over, and it flashes before your eyes (if that realy happens) how would it differ from a fairy tale ?

at this verry moment you are filming your fairytale, i think.

Hi Gh,

All you have to do is to look at the sweet face of a newborn and you will find your answer.

There are different approaches to understanding this scenario , which amount to the same thing in any spiritual tradition , wether its buddhism , hinduism, or Judaism , all depends on what you believe , are you christian or what ? So I know how to answer you best .

Can you Be more specific , what do you mean ?

bess, that was my first assumption, and your obviously rite, babies are pure. but what if everyone starts out with a clean sheet of paper, and are given the choice to color whatever picture they want. the person can color a rainbow, or they can color a swastica that says “eat shit” below it. …or they can choose to erase what they drew, but in the end, you are your “metaphorical art”, i think, im not possitive. disciple of light-- ironically enough i was christian up untill the point of my spiritual exp. i still respect christianity, but i do not belong to it, or any religion for that matter…i believe people have souls, if that helps. what i ment by the fairytale question is; when your life finally flashes before your eyes, how will it be any different from watching a fairy tale?, how will you be any different from the main charachter of a fairy tale? will it not be the tale of a nobel persons strugle through life, and how they deal with the bizarities that life throws at them, and how they attempt to navigate through life? im not saying that your the only soul in your fairytale, if thats what you think im sugesting. and im not sugesting that you life is determined.

Is writing in lowercase letters a new thing? Is it just laziness or is there something you are trying to say? Personally, it drives me mad… and don’t understand your Zenoesque first grade writing style, but I am simply used to writing what others can decipher. Expound your little heart out, s’il vous plait.
