Cowardly Need

Every crisis or conflict seems to generate the fear for certain extremely intelligent, formerly worldly types to engage in something called cowardly thinking. This means that events are interpreted based on a world view which claims that one can become better than the world, but are unable to actually find the courage to make the attempt. Many fearful but otherwise extremely intelligent people are afflicted with cowardly need.

Is the source of this need really as simple as a general love for a newfound sense of comfort? When one is unable to value oneself with respect to the philosophical framework in which he has found he developed during years of more harsh living a psychological displacement occurs causing motive for viewing those who aren’t sycophantic towards him as “inept” or “eternally ignorant”, in order to protect one’s possibility for contextual self-valuing in the face of one’s experiences of cowardice.

On the other side we have the sycophants of the coward himself, those who in their misunderstanding of his philosophy feel the pressure to speak of strength in the ape-like way of pure athleticism and ironically to claim that no intellect can subtly compel them to do anything. This is also just a need to feel safe and secure.

Neither approach is even slightly competent at actually becoming more than the world or the self impartially. Those with incalculable strength, courage and drive are the only few with that potential.

You forgot to mention luck.

  1. Are you gonna call this your New “Holier Than Thou” philosophy? O:) :evilfun:

Luck is about results, potential can only be potentialized. I’m sure those too afraid to even try to reach their potential will say that it was only bad luck not a failure to try.

Sorry, but Smears pretty much has that one cornered.

Not that I’m implying my endorsement, of course.

But, all this illustrates nicely that one thing can be counted on to be more rampant than pissing-one’s-pants, hiding-in-the-closet when-the-frosty-wind-begins-to-howl with-a-laptop cowardice…

Vanity.
