Creativity and Morality in art?

In todays culture I think it is essential that Creativity and Morality are integrated. In the art culture today it is virtually non existent. These two should be combined so that culture becomes an asset to our society rather than a money maker. Where are all the artists when the sh*t hits the fan?

they’re holed up in their rooms, trying to figure out freedom of expression, in a market place that hardly condones the freest of ideas.

75% of the book buying public are middle aged white woman who crave mysteries of killer crimes. That or red hot pants romance novels that do nothing to match real relationships, causing disapointment.

So the question to the new artist is not morality, but how do I create a killer as likeable as hannibal lecter, as complex and interesting as his mind is . . .

the shit hit the fan is splattered all across my artist’s loft.

Bansky is very bankable right now. A far cry from what he started being. Do you think he has lost his integrity as an artist because his work is so expensive to buy now and are his politics not rudimentary?

Yeah but now he is charging 200,000 sterling. Where’s the politics ay? But it must be hard to refuse that kind of fame and opportunity, I could harldy blame him and feel he started out with good intentions, although it didn’t last long. Do you think artists should be political?

Classic example of antipathy…do whatever the they want…where’s the purpose or intelligence in that. High brow artists sit around talking amongst themselves for the greater part doing sweet all and blaging they are political when in fact they are cashing in.

yes, if they dont mind having their own file in a military crate of some secret basement.

yes, if they dont mind the potential assassination. john lennons last days come to mind, under full scrutiny of the powers that be.

(Except, like I said, regarding instances where the liberty of others is threatened)…

So when that happens, when the liberty of others IS threatened like it is everyday of the week. Then it’s ok for them to comment or interpet what’s around them ok…that’s a given. So where the F are they?

In the history of art making a handful of well known artists come to mind who have made incredibly strong political gestures Picasso for example with ‘Guernica’ and have easily survived and writers continue to do so but visual artists are they dead as dodo’s?

ZZZZZZZZZZ

It’s not blunt it’s a little braindead, I expected more from this site than the use of the F word, I understood your thread, the world of contemporary culture is asleep with antipathy, ignorance, apathy, and lethargy. It’s why it is the way it is. You reflect that apathy by stating artists can do exactly what they want. I absolutely do not agree with your point of view. It is a lazy belief system. Infact, I believe that your position which has very little to do with a philosophical frame of mind is central to the state of lethargic thinking prevalent world-wide. If you have something to contribute beyond what you already have, expanding your ideas with solid examples relating to the thread do so if you have nothing else, ciou bella.

it’s the magic of the marketplace…

the art can be great, but if it doesn’t sell, who cares?

of course state sponsored art is fantastic

The first expressive art was cultic and religious.

Study the origins there.
