Damn Traffic!

I was surprisingly touched
At the sight of the stalled car
The highway is cruel
It does not yield
Pained looks upon their faces
Frustration, fear, and need
I hardened my heart
And drove on by
A thought occurs
What if they are fired for being late?
Will they be able to make rent?
Will their children suffer?
There’s got to be a better way!

An excellent poem, Thirst. You capture a moment, which is probably the greatest acheivement you can hope for.

More than just a moment’s been captured here I think. Thirst has painted an effective metaphor for the pace of life itself these days. This is more than a highway, this is society.

Rainey, thanks! It is more than a highway.
Thanks Phaedrus. I do hope to achieve so much more!
Liquidangel, next time for sure.

Thanks all.

The other goal of poetry: to make the reader a better person. This poem could potentially do that.
