For all you fans of “The Office”, what is it that is so funny about David Brent?

The funny thing for me seems to be that he never recognizes that everybody hates him even though he loves himself.
(I just bought the the collectors edition which includes both series and the Christmas specials) 
(For the poll, I’m asking if you think Ricky Gervais is funny as David Brent, not if you would like David Brent as a real person)
