Day dream a nightmare R a foundation for prosperous life?

[i]
Hello friends!
This is my first thread!
Many (those who say they are practical…be practical)say day dreams are nightmares…they spoil your concentration power and lead to think stupid things…a waste of time…generally a lazy person will dream…cuz, a busy /organized person wont have time to dream…

if you ask achievers and motivational speakers, they say day dream is the foundation for a great life…dream ,whatever you want…for instance:a homeless dreams about owing a castle…

practical people say, instead of thinkin stupid, the person can think about earning his bread or findind a shelter…

Motivational speakers, if the person adds a perfect amount of energy, attitude, confidence…etc… would defenitely make him an owner of the castle…

Who is right? why?..who is not right? why?..can the homeless can be a castle owner, with his confidence?

why many daydreams fail? lack of confidence / dreamers are not practical?

Ah welcome, nice thread!!!
Umm… I daydream about philosophy or how I would react in possible situations, so something always is accomplished: straighten out my thoughts or prepare for social trials. Thus I am both practical and supportive of daydreams. “A busy/ organized person won’t have time to dream.” Load of BS, an organized person will have MORE time essentially, and a busy person likes to escape from reality once in a while. Like listening to music while driving home from the office, its rather soothing. I would never ask what a motivational speaker thought though… people who need them have no idea where they are going in life… thus I do not hold them in high regard, however I do not personally know one, thus I cannot pass judgment. They truly appear more fanciful, and “everythings going to turn out ok, if only you believe in yourself” kinda trash. Daydreams don’t really have to be realistic, they can just offer a different perspective. Dreaming of your dreams (what you want your life to be like) does not change anything, it is acting upon tihose dreams and goals that will. Does dreaming give you “confidence”? I sincerly doubt that, it only offers a glimpse into what may be, but not what is or what is surely to be.

Hi
Darksword…that was a wonderful argument!
You have not got my point…are day dreams an inspiraton or just a waste of time…

organised person wont let his mind think about unreal things and waste his time…SAY a daydreamer (student) drinks his drink in a downtown area and think, how nice it would be if i go in a chauffer driven car to one of the expensive night clubs in the city.Organised person would say’i dont want to waste my time on unreal things"…Busy person “i have no time to think about my present life.then, how would i think about my future.”

When he starts to think about his dream again and again, it would create a kinda pleasure( high life style) and a pain towards his existing life…then he decides…oh! God, i am not gonna settle for this life again…then he lays high standards…works hard with new spirt, determination, dedication and finally…Can he make it?

Hi Professor Student,

I think when daydreaming becomes an obsession, it causes the failure. Otherwise, it can lead to success and inspiration. Too much time spent wondering, wishing, hoping (to get that good feeling you indicated) but too little spent on acting.

Peace

Future cannot be decided in one second, it takes time, …you have to think about each and eveything for all angles…

You said"Too much time spent wondering, wishing, hoping (to get that good feeling you indicated) but too little spent on acting."

If right actions were taken at right time???..What about you?can you focus on your dream and give life to it?

PS

Hi Professor Student

I agree the future can not be decided in a second but there wont be a future if you don’t make a decision, and take charge.

The way I see it is that my dreams are actual dreams, it isn’t always attainable, it isn’t limited or bombarded, it is an escape, it is my story/adventure, etc… I can’t really give existence to my dreams because I’m a hell of a daydreamer (i.e I don’t think unicorns exists, I can’t grow wings and fly, or I can’t have super powers etc). And so I don’t think I can personally give life to my dreams. On the other hand, my goals are always attainable, and realistic.

But I guess if you limit your dreams to realistic and attainable stuff, you can give life to it. And if you act at the right moment, it will probably lead to whatever one considers “success”. This process seems similar to that of acheiving a goal .
