De-constructing Philosophy.

On the surface, those things seem not be about power. But if you delve deeper, you will see the light. Love, from a biological perspective, is a ploy - a numbing agent to relieve the stress within an organism. Showing love and affection towards your kin enhances the survivability of the organism ( Contact comfort ). It’s a sub-conscious attempt at increasing the energetic resistance towards entropy.

“Physiologists should think before putting down the instinct of self-preservation as the cardinal instinct of an organic being. A living thing seeks above all to discharge its strength–life itself is will to power; self-preservation is only one of the indirect and most frequent results.”
― Friedrich Nietzsche, Beyond Good and Evil

Man has an imagination. Not everything man thinks, is in line with what’s perceived.

Take the word solidity. When taken literally, nothing’s solid, everything’s active, animated, energetic. When taken figuratively, some things can be said to be solid… that is to say, some objects are less energetic than other objects, but still essentially, fundamentally in motion. Rocks give man the impression they’re something altogether different from sand and soil, air and water, which is how the word/concept solid came into being, but they’re not, as they’re moving too, but we still use the word solid, for convenience sake and more.

Man, because of his primitive, simplistic cognition, and because of his emotional need to find something solid to ground himself in, nevertheless clung to the notion of actual solidity. He pushes the deadline further back. If rocks aren’t SOLID, perhaps they’re made up of things that’re solid, and if those things aren’t solid, perhaps they’re made up of things that’re solid, and so on and so forth. But the more we probe, the more disappointed we are. Every part can be integrated into a whole, and every whole can be disintegrated into parts, from stars to “atoms”, both of which, man has at one time, practically worshipped, the biggest and presently the smallest, because he thought they were indivisible. But time and time again, he’s been disappointed. The ground on which walk remains fluid. We must orient ourselves on quicksand, if we’re to orient ourselves at all.

Nevertheless, the notion of the indivisible has remained with us, not only for convenience sake, but as a very real thing, somewhere out there, waiting to be discovered. Because the myth of solidity exists, it becomes necessary to contrast it with the notion of energy, even though energy can be rightfully applied to everything, because everything is dancing, everything is in motion, in fact there’s nothing dancing, existence is itself is dancing, what we call a thing is just an area where one kind of dancing occurs, that can be contrasted with another area where another kind of dancing occurs.

So, true, an idea must be contrasted with something in order to conceive of it, it’s just that in this case it’s contrasted with another idea, nowhere perceived, not representing anything at all, anything tangible, but nonetheless persisting in our minds due to our mental deficiencies. It can be correctly said that everything is energy, everything flickers like a flame, and it’s meaningful, because man is perpetually deceived by into thinking some God particle, spirit or soul exists, somewhere out there.

Love is an emotion that inspires one to embrace, protect and perpetuate the things that you direct this emotion towards.

As I said to Satyr, if one is seeking to be numbed, it’s because on is already in pain. If one does not live in fear, as there are many out there who do not, they don’t need to be numbed. Yet they still embrace love, why?

Because it’s not simply a numbing agent.

Let me repeat what I said to you in the Power thread:

I agree that it increases survivability and resists entropy. If when you say Will to Power, you’re including the capacity to love and empower, that I’m all for it.

I want to say this to you:

Ploy - An action calculated to frustrate an opponent or gain an advantage indirectly or deviously

Survival wasn’t intended. There was no conscious being who said, we’ll give these animals love, then they’ll survive effectively.

Survival is neutral. Some species died, others perpetuated. Neither circumstance, objectively, is wrong. Right and wrong are discerned by intent, and since the Universe and environment is what enforced our structure, natural selection, there was no objective being set.

Beyond the living, all is neutral. A sun has no interest in perpetuation, or dying. Both eventuations are irrelevant to the sun. Just as survival or extinction of our species, is irrelevant to the Universe or environment.

The only thing that motivates us is our own personal bias, that was enforced into us, because had we not developed these biases, we’d have died like the rest. To say love ought be dismissed as a ploy, is to say all your motivations ought be dismissed as a ploy.

Everything you do is a product of what’s been perpetuated by the past. We’re all drones.

The best environment for us, is one where our drives are satisfied.

Evolution is not perfect - sometimes there are biological errors, e.g., schizophrenia, etc. But this doesn’t negate the obvious reality of a universal, naturalistic telos inherent to plants and sentient creatures which is the will to resist entropy.

Are you equating survival with resisting entropy?

Yes, basically, I am.

So you think we live to resist entropy. I’d say it’s the other way around. Our interest is in living. There are lots of things we do in the course of living that don’t help to resist entropy. We don’t worry about death because of how it relates to entropy. We worry because death is the end of life.

ES is right.

ALL of the things that you end up sensing or deducing as “joy” came from an effort to avoid entropy coupled with the inability to do it right.

knowledge is a tool for survival. (quote)
In Christian theology, consuming the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil was the original sin committed by Adam and Eve that subsequently became known as the Fall of man in Genesis 2-3.

Knowledge has always destroyed us.

ie Medical studies done for the purpose of knowledge to assist. Human beings created naturally, also die naturally, yet medicine intervenes only because we apply that our wisdom allows us the insight to intervene and our personal plea to our Father is immortality, or the pursuit of immortality to save life. What is the natural purpose or purpose of Creator…natural attrition. What has allowing medical studies caused…evil Scientists to use this information to abuse us all. The abuse involves Science and how it has hidden its pursuits of cellular creation, and what sort of experiments they are applying without our knowledge that has destroyed our DNA origins.

Therefore current day civilization has also attained the warning message in the Bible, as Adam and Eve the first humans sort their own immortality.
Yahweh sets the man in the garden “to work it and watch over it,” permitting him to eat from all the trees in the garden except the Tree of Knowledge, “for on the day you eat of it you shall surely die.”

This statement in Philosophy determines that we were given life and life supported us in all the trees we needed, except Knowledge…because knowing evil only implies that you changed the creation by understanding it. To understand it, you had to interfere with it…and this is what Scientists have done. If Father had already placed both incidences within his natural balances as stated, and it was changed by an act of interfering, then obviously destruction will occur because of it.

Of course knowledge to Christians is evil; they are nihilists - haters of nature. Christianity seeks to make of every virtue a vice, and every truth a lie. They invert all that is noble and good with their hatred of the senses, of reality. To them, Knowledge is evil and ignorance is good. Rational thinkings is a sin - and blind faith is a virtue.

Knowledge has always destroyed us? Seriously? What a generalization…

I don’t bow my knee in slave-like submissiveness to your celestial Alpha-male. Everything unmanly and sickly emanates from your holy book.

You do realize your religion is a masochistic, self-abasement cult that was brought into effect by scheming power-hungry masters?

Or, the seemingly determined outcome of the effects of mass psychology, during a time of gross social changes. The appeasing countereffects ceased to do the job. Such as were the Colosseum entertainments. Collusion became the effect of political expediancy.

Yes, you do. Every blank assertion you make—the stack of which constitutes your typical post—reads like the back cover of some new edition’s caricature of Nietzsche. Everything you say is regurgitated, it comes out of you, but you have no idea why, or why you should keep letting it. It just does. You are utterly un-reflective. You recite lines like the dogma of the people who bang on your door with pamplets. The lines are different, sure, but the attitude and relation to their content is fundamentally the same. You are a believer—fundamentally religious. As to why you think what you think—i.e., why you should keep thinking it—you have no idea, and nothing of it ever comes out in what you write.

You made the equivalent generalization when you said that “knowledge was power”. In terms of generality, they are identical. And to the directly opposed but equivalent generalization, you have not a single thing to say. What a shame…

I don’t buy it. How is getting drunk and bullshitting with my friends an effort to avoid entropy?

That’s total nonsense. Our entire technological scientific society has developed out of the Judeo-Christian tradition. Where do you think it all came from?
Look at other religious groups … they have nowhere near the range of free thought and inquiry.

How 'bout life generally resists entropy, rather than absolutely resists entropy. The act of getting drunk probably isn’t resisting entropy, by and large, especially if it begins taking dangerous risks, but the organism still by and large is resisting entropy, it’s breathing, it’s pumping blood through it’s system, regulating it’s temperature, even psychologically and neurologically it’s trying to minimize pain even when it’s getting drunk, as pain damages and overstresses the nervous system, so that’s resisting empathy. Not every single act and sensation resists entropy in the long term, but when taken as a whole, that’s what organisms do, and when they stop doing it, as a whole, they die, so there’s never a time when they’re alive when they’re not resisting more than going along with entropy.

You’re probably not a born again Christian, you’re probably one of those fake, weekend Christians, who can’t separate his Christianity from science, philosophy and humanism, which are largely of Greco Roman origins. Did your bible not say -Greeks and Romans seek knowledge, Jews and Christians look for a sign?

You do realize that many Christians are blameless in this? It’s not their fault. The Christian Bible still does hold a lot of good value to it. The fact is that what they view to be God in their bible; much like Greek and Roman Mythology; can be attributed to alien races with advanced technology and what they wish to think of God as is Nature itself; and in that regard, Nature IS the celestial alpha-male. You’re not going to win against it, because it will still have you in the end.

The problem with organized religion in general is the same problem with politics and military and every other group of man. To hate on Christianity is to hate on all men equally for the same things: Corruption and deceit and then the blind following of that by others; and still the apathetic subservience of others; and then others are criminalized for fighting against it to the point where even our heroes are thrown in jail. Our own worst enemy is not God or religion or politics or military, though. Our own worst enemy is… us. On an individual level and on a group level; equally.

You fight ignorance, but spread it yourself unknowingly. It is not your fault, either. None of us are to blame for it all and yet all of us are at fault for continuing it while we learn and stumble and bump our heads, and this is why it is our duty to fix it; this is why it becomes us to become responsible for our selves. Only then will the long chain of events from dim history to blinding present shift from a negative to a positive. Only when all differences are shown to be surface-deep and all similarities shown to be binding beyond what we have thought. We are all brothers and sisters to one another; a giant family of living beings.

To generalize, simply, a group into a single label is impossible, for not all people within the group support the same things. The same holds true on an individual level as well. In fact, if you look at our smallest atoms and our largest organisms, they all act pretty similar to each other; one adding to one adding to one, creating groupings that then create larger groupings and what holds true for one scale, holds true for all.

Yeah, generally, we could say that survival is the resistance of entropy, but that’s not what I have a problem with. JSS said that anything that brings me joy is an effort to resist entropy.

Also, I think that resisting entropy isn’t a telos. That’s just something we do by living; it’s not our purpose or end goal.

Von, don’t make me laugh. I know why I subscribe to the Redbeard and Nietzsche philosophy. I don’t agree with every single thing they said, but for the most part, I do. And you have no reason to assert that I am religious in nature.

The human capacity for knowledge evolved as a tool to aid in our survival, Von. It acts to empower us. Sure, sometimes it can backfire on us depending upon the context, but it evolved to aid us. Can you agree with that? And can you agree with the absurd claim " Knowledge has ALWAYS destroyed us"? Chew on it for awhile and let me know.

Read the ancient Greek philosophers, read the Old Testament and then read the New Testament. You will see that Christianity is an integration of Greek thought into Judeism. The Christian God is more Greek than Jewish.
