Even Canada’s ugly women look beautiful in contrast to the ugly women within the United States. In contrast to a United States woman I’d rather nail a Canadian.
You prefer totalitarianism as a system. You wish you were the totalitarian, but you can’t whine about the system itself.
Not really. When the financial crisis was happening, and the housing crisis, and the banking crisis, and whatever other crisis… we chugged along just fine for the most part. Here’s an analogy. You are Norm McDonald, we are fat guy. Watch the video.
For someone who is struggling to get by, it’d be free at a basic level. But for the rest, it’s not technically free. Every so often an authority from Her Majesty’s Government orders me to strip down, with a scrutinizing and distrustful stare, shoves a probing device up my rectum, cuts up my bed mattress, and then leaves with a piece of my dignity in exchange for a “hmph, is that so”.
A society should find some way to establish a basic level of health care for people. Just as you’re not really a society if you let foreign attackers come in and abuse and kill some number of your population, you’re not really a society either if those foreign attackers just happen to be microbes or bacteria or disease.
If a terrorist blows up your house, and your neighbours couldn’t care less, then you’re not really living in a community. And you’re not really living in a community, either, if your neighbours couldn’t care less that paying some hospital bill took away your house. That seems like a decent analogy to me.
Von I think it’s wrong to tax rich factory owners who earned their billions just to take care of sick factory workers who 1) weren’t ambitious enough to be anything but a factory worker, 2) didn’t care enough about themselves to save up in case they got sick, 3) can’t be productive in a factory once they’ve gotten sick and until they’ve recovered and 4) may not even have a skill that’s marketable for enough of anything to even afford to go to the doctor.
I mean…there are charities and churches and stuff to take care of those people. They could ask around and find jobs raking leaves or something and take care of themselves. Maybe they could sell all their possessions, (which they obviously could not afford), and go back to live with their families or something. Maybe family values might make their way in and the person may end up better off.
If you let them go to the doctor for free…all you’re teaching them is that they don’t have to earn what they consume and that it’s ok to steal something so long as you think you need it.
It is. I suppose that it’s better to mooch off each other until no on in the world has a thing? Is that your view? You think it’s better for everyone in the world to have a bowl of rice than for you yourself to have a lobster and a couple people not get their rice?
There’s a difference between being social, and socialism. If I go to a party, I am being social. If I insist that we all share ownership of the house and the food and the booze and the music, then I am being a socialist.
In reality, ‘socialism’ is a matter of degrees.
For Smears, it’s a bit ridiculous to call other people socialists while he lives in a society with welfare, subsidized housing, social security, food assistance programs, publicly controlled industries, some version of health care—(even if it’s just the hospital not charging poor people), public transportation, public investment in business/research/development, and so on… it’s ridiculous to have all of those things and think you’re not to some extent socialist.
