I am polling to see who has read Demian by Herman Hesse. Hesse is a profound author and is remarkable in his application of psychology and philosophy in his novels.
Please post your thoughts on any of his novels you have read. I made the poll over Demian for it is the only one I have completed, and is perhaps already my favorite book.
I read Demian in my early teens, and sharing the name of the book’s title, I was moved to emulate its hero. It’s a hard name to live up to, as Max Demian is a magnificient – near perfect – character who exemplifies all the virtues I aspired to. But it’s been too long since I read it to engage in any serious discussion with you now. Maybe I’ll reread it.
