This democrat, William Jefferson,
was caught (on tape) taking a bribe. I say
jail the pig. I am against corruption by anybody.
Right or left, if you take bribes,
(which in my book is any campaign contribution of over 5,000 dollars)
you must be in jail. I am against corruption of any kind in any party.
Right now the list is one democrat and 20+ republicans are under
investigations. The GOP party members under investigations
most are from either the Cunningham or the abrovomoff scandals,
with a few going under the valerie plame scandals.
With the exception of the Ohio Republicans and they are involved with
coingate, and new Hampshire who are involved in election shenanigans.
so at the end of the day, you have Republicans outnumbering democrats
in various scandals, by (at least) 30 to 1. 30 gophers to 1 democrat.
I like that GOPhers. Anyway, it is quite clear the culture of corruption
exist in washington and its name be thy Gophers.
So should corruption be rooted out no matter where its found?
The scary part is only rooting out the corruption that can be found. That we are looking at an iceberg makes most of us uncomfortable. How much more is underwater? And they can’t understand why we’re a little cynical…
tentative:

K: and that is the key, how much is underwater? And why does this
iceberg talk make me think of the titanic?
Anyway, I suspect there is far more underwater then on top.
And no cares enough to even look. That is the worst part.
The feeling of “Oh well, it doesn’t matter because there will always
be corruption” or “we can’t do anything about it” Or “Its the nature of
things” If that attitude exist, then corruption will always exists.
The “fix” is in. Pure as the driven snow would be just as bad. Better to have a little larceny in the hearts of men. It keeps us from being completely gullible. “We’re not going to hurt each other, are we?”
Actually one thing I have notice is the GOPhers make character
an issue as in “my guy has better character then your guy”
But if you think about it, the job of being president is one, of you
want someone who has slightly less then then ideal character.
An example is Jimmy Carter, who has the best character of any
president in the last century, but was he the best president? NOPE.
You want someone who can order people to die without qualms,
you want someone who can pull the trigger. You have to have a
mean hard spot to be president. And having character is not
going to get you that meanness or hardness to do what needs
to be done sometimes. You have to tough. A god fearing timid person
won’t have the balls to do what needs to be done.
wow, i completely agree, i’m not totaly sure about the god fearing thing. i think fearing god may keep that person on a good track, but everything else so, so true
