i didn’t post this at the religion forum because it is not about god giving us free will.
pretend that there were two boxes, exactly the same, right next to each other. emphasis on the exactly. then suddenly, there is a big bang in one of them and a universe is created inside that box, the boxes limits are the universes limits. so then, many many years later, a kid just like me goes on a website just like this to type something just like this. then, on the box that is exactly the same, a big bang occurs, since the box is exactly the same, and no outside forces are influencing either box, would there eventually be a boy who went on a site and typed this in? i mean, if all events were to occur in both boxes, might as well, right? so what about free will? what if all our choices are predermined because of all the past?
theres no reason not to believe that everything is in fact pre-determined. no reason at all.
except for heisenbergs uncertainty principle. whatever is over the horizon, that we are unable to observe, thats where the free will takes place if it exists. seems like there will always be such a horizon, and it may in fact always be heisenbergs uncertainty that prevents us from seeing where the photons in our brain are exactly.
but just because its pre-determined doesnt mean that anybody, even god, has to know exactly what will happen in the future.
if your choices are predetermined, there can be no moral (or otherwise) responsibility… the devil made me do it? well it was pre-ordained by someone/thing… if predetermination is the case, you cannot in good conscious keep people in prison, they had no choice but to act as they did/do… all your great and grand accomplishments? all the work and effort to be the best? you get no credit for any of it, it wasn’t your doing, it was pre determined… it couldn’t have been anyother way…

i’m not saying what you’re responding to. i’m asking could that be the case? for example, if the universe happened ONE second later, would things be the same as now, or would everything be different becasue of that second. if everything in a second universe happened exactly as it did in the first, things would HAVE to come out the same. get what i’m saying?
I think so… but put it in simpler terms… there are two copies of the same movie (the creation and expansion of the universe, life, whatever… it is a known quantity) you have one movie running at time a… you have the exact same movie running at time b… do the movies have to show the same story even though the time each started is different? if the two movies (universes) are the same except for time (an external human interpretation) then yes, they show the same story… (besides there is no way to know every event in the universe, so the question is moot)
well as i see it…even if all the preconditions are identical for both big bangs…that does not mean that the second universe will be identical to the first. remember, there is only a probability that the atoms will combine and arrange themselves as they did in the first big bang…there is no guarantee.
Everything is pre-destined. We don’t know that it is pre-destined. Therefore our lives are what we make it, even though what we make it already exists in the future. Unlike all those Damned Time-travel movies, when a person from the future goes back in time, and he changes something, the future is NOT altered because that change was part of what made the future what it is.
There is no such thing as a paradox as we know it, a paradox is the misuse of logic to reach an indeterminate answer.
