Does Beauty and the Beast teach girls to tolerate abuse?
There’s a common theme in many Disney cartoons that “nurture” can trump “nature”, and that society should not be the rule of the strong. I think this is what’s going on in this cartoon. It doesn’t matter how you are raised, you can think for yourself. Even “Song of the South” tries this theme although many still consider it offensive for it’s racial pigeon-holing.
You have a stronger case with “Cinderella” than with Beauty and the Beast. The only really strong lession I’d get out of Disney if I was a kid is that all dogs are good and all cats are wicked.
