Do Atheists Float?

Do you reject the possibility of a god?

  • Yes, completely.

The title is strange, but what I am asking here is if you are an atheist, are you just shopping for religions or ways of life that you associate with, or do you mix and match, but also thinking it out for yourself.

The combinations of beliefs are many but for me:

I do not believe in god, though I cannot refute his existance. I mix and match ways of life and beliefs that I associate with or I feel have a depth to be explored, for ill or good. Most of all I think it out for myself, asking questions of everything, and then again of my answers to find truth.

I am fascinated by people who take such a path in life as they are truly born new with every question they answer. I am interested to hear your views on the subject of how you would class yourself as an Atheist but also on how you percieve atheist as a believer in God.

Also, as either an atheist or a believer in God, do you question your faith or non-faith in order to strengthen it or to truly understand what it means to be whatever it is you call yourself.

Stick me in a hot tub of expensive escort girls that are naked and find out.

Would the tub have any water in it or is there just girls. Floating in a bunch of escorts sounds difficult, but trying it would be more fun than painful. Besides a little pain wouldn’t hurt.

Not if it was a super deluxe hot tub having enough room for the naked girls on the side with a wide open space of water in the middle.

If was found conclusive to the test subject man to be floated on the water that naked girls on the side would further the outcome of this observation.

We must do this for the perseverance of science my boy to see if indeed atheists do float on water and if indeed girls can shake that ass in the hot tub. [-X :evilfun:

Super deluxe, more girls, more water, more fun. :stuck_out_tongue: …no pain.
I wonder could I build my own?

If you build it, it will come. :sunglasses:

 I hope I get the chicks and not some bunch of waify baseball players, stomping all my corn.

Where is the “I accept the possibility of God and believe that possibility is an actuality” answer? Kind of missed out on the believers.

And not sure how this relates: but I sink like a rock when put in water. I have never been to the ocean, but I don’t think there is enough salt to keep me up there either.

Serious question, TM:

Do you reject the possibility of a flying spaghetti monster?

A) Yes, completely.

B) No, but I do not believe in one.

C) No, but I cannot choose one way or the other.

Comment: If you do not believe that a god or gods exist, then you ARE an atheist. One does not have to have an irrational belief (such as rejecting the possibility that a logically possible god exists) to be an atheist. In fact, no atheists that I know DO have such irrational beliefs.

Now, with that preamble out of the way, do you consider yourself to be an atheist?

Blue Chicken---- I just assumed that there were no theists who say:‘‘God! His existance isn’t possible, but I do believe he exists.’’ =P~
When you find me one that does I will add that option for them.(there will be a drug test). A human body can float in the Dead Sea, it has a very high salt content.

RC----I would find it hard to belive it if there wasn’t an atheist who did reject the possibility of a god, there are people out there who are not rational. You don’t know everybody, although sometimes I wonder the way you seem to get away with arguing half-assed.(by the way, go to the Why Do People Believe thread and answer my post) :imp:

Did I say there are absolutely no atheists anywhere in the world who reject even the possibility of a logically possible god?

Let me go back and check . . .

      • whistle * * *

Why, no I didn’t! I simply strongly implied that to believe that to believe that is a common atheist belief is itself a nutty belief (and one which, unsurprisingly, you apparently hold).

Now, please answer: Do you reject the possibility of the existence of a flying spaghetti monster?

And since you do not believe that a god exists, do you consider yourself to be an atheist or are you too cowardly to use that label to describe your nonbelief even as an anonymous poster on a discussion board?

To me anyone who ticks “Yes, completely” has the wrong attitude. I find the idea of God quite silly, but rejecting it outwright would be even sillier.

Exactly – which is why I wondered aloud why TM included such a ridiculous epistemic position in his poll.

Anyone who says “Duh, yes, I reject even the possibility of a logically possible God” either is daft or doesn’t understand the meaning of the words that are being used.

I suspect that TM includes it as a choice because he has some sort of half-baked notion about what it is that atheists believe.

I must be a silly cheeky bastard then.

( That avatar is hot.)

That’s right I’m a atheist.

( I’m luvin it.)

My, what a superficial understanding, Joker. There are illusions and delusions in abundance, and you are completely incapable of discerning reality as we all are. Construct whatever position you like, but to stand flat-footed and declare that you KNOW what is unknowable is… at the very least, amusing.

Silly? I think so.

Cheeky bastard? If you want!

Hot avatar? Definitely.

I mostly agree. I just wouldn’t call the idea of God silly.

I’ve been wondering how anyone could have enough gall to reject the possibility of the existence of a god completely.

Darn look at all those athiest with floaties on, Cheaters!! you are supposed to see if you float by yourself not with help. Jeez. Although joker’s duckie ones are cute.

Since I am niether atheist, religious nor agnostic, I am left out of this one but, I have my BB gun to pop floaties just for fun. Toss a few believers in lets see what happens.

I have never expirienced a god and the eight years I devoted to the study of world religions I never found one.

It really isn’t quite all that unknowable as you claim.
