It seems to me that a world without humans would still function quite well. There seems to be a great balance within animals and plants and everything else. Almost like a giant puzzel and different thing are different pieces of this puzzel. The rest of life has purposes that helps itself grow and manage. Just a great balance. We don’t even have a sensible balance in our own society.
So do we fit in this puzzel? I can’t think of one constant thing that all humans have that would be a piece to the puzzel. But we have so much control over everything else in the puzzel that makes it seem that we are something more then the balance. This control doesn’t make us gods because we are tied to it and we are dependent on this puzzel. But do we Fit?
I smell a hearty chicken soup at the moment, but we’ll have nothing of this!
From all indications (indications we’ve recieved while being here, mind you), the world functions in a way that requires little to no helping hand, especially from us. I would imagine that if we have any real importance to the “health” of the earth, we’re hindering its processes, if anything.
We’ve been removing some of its components, for years and years now, so who knows…
time will tell where and how we fit into this puzzle.
we can often be a parasite to the world, like oil spills in rivers etc,
and we can also be saviors and rejuvinate an ecosystem back to a healthier state.
You could say we are gods in a sense of this planet. but not a judeo god, we are more like the greek gods, some bad, some good and with an array personalities.
I personally like a lot of eastern though for my own spirituality. so I know this is a philosphy forum, not a “show and tell” or mundane babble forum, but I think we have to remember that we need many parts of the whole earth, we are not supreme a lone, but with the aid of the earth sustaining us, and we sustaining it. so yea we do contribute negativly and in a possitive way, like all other species do. We just LOVE machines and smoke stacks more than other species.
I am amazed at hard lined athiests and theists, they forget the uncertainty principle, and think their way is “the way.” Proof or no proof, you forget the uncertainty priciple and it will cloud the way you look at the world and it will cloud who you can have relationships with. good luck mooseman.
does anyone else think that this forum is for just athiests? no agnostics, theists or anything else allowed?
