Do you have to have an original thought to be a philosopher?

You have a continuous flow of original ideas. You combine abstract concepts into other abstract concepts into an infinity of abstraction.

Sometimes you can have significant ideas. Their significance measured by their impact on the utility toward whatever goal might be appropriate. Significant ideas are generally somewhat unique to their time.

The internet is a good example of the natural selection between significant and insignificant abstractions. Dumb sites can’t generate an income to afford the bandwidth, are usually made by rather poor people anyway, and no hosts want to offer free service because they don’t attract enough attention. People seem attracted to things that give their study significance.

Then again . . . capitalism creates a large empire of corporations that will advertise nonsense to their heart’s content.
