I realise that this is a bit cheeky but iv been here for a while and wanted 2 broaden my horizons. Im in the uK, does anyone know any good philosophy forums that they could recomend?
I attend http://www.dreamsforsale.net
It’s a nice little place, nothing to serious, good mixture of opinions
While I’d highly recomend DreamsForSale (listed above, by Username), you may also want to visit http://www.philosophyforums.com.
It is the largest philosophy forum on the net as far as I know.
ben may not forgive us for doing this…
i know some more but i want to know wheter this is allowed…
Yeah, I’m kind of wondering the same thing.
If the goal of philosophy is to reach as many people as you can, and to learn from as many different people as you can, and especially if your site is in no danger of losing it’s core members but a working relationship can only improve both sites, then
yeeeehawwwwwww!!
since basta has already posted us, i’ll have to back him up
we’re mad, for several reasons… but it’s the greatest board…
willem
Yes … strictly mad, and not strictly philosophers …
But don’t dare tell Pam that …
DFS of course, philosophy and politics without all seriousness… cool for the younger crowd.
And of course I have to promote TMR (The Mental Revolution), it isn’t philosophy. Well, per say… in fact… it isn’t much of anything. I don’t know what it is. Click this banner I’ve made:
There I also have a link’s section towards other ‘XXI approved’ web sites. Not much, but a little something - something.
BUMPED
To end all talk of those we don’t speak of, here is the original thread.
The relative goodness of a forum is a matter of opinion, preference and taste.
What is the goodness beyond relative goodness?
Did you mean pure goodness, or goose goodness, or cheese goodness, or muy caliente goodness, or nine-day old goodness, or classic goodness, or triple-reverse goodness, or hyper-mega goodness, or extra-terrestrial goodness?
Certainly you didn’t mean non-relative or absolute goodness did you?
You usually prefer to avoid metaphysics.
Really? How can you verify absolute goodness?
Please don’t ignore the question.
How do you verify absolute goodness?
You proposed a test that seems to be about validity. You measure zero philosophy here, so that makes it an invalid philosophy site. Talking about its quality as a philosophy site then becomes meaningless. You have disqualified it as a philosophy site.
You talk as if you are obsessed with Darwin. Everything you talk about you lead back to Darwin.
I can easily see how you can verify pragmatic good. Absolute good is a different matter.
Ah, the old switcheroo. You redefine the absolute as pragmatic.
There are many different subjects that you could focus on and still be empirical. Darwin does not have a monopoly on the empirical.
“The world looks might good to me, 'cause Tootsie Rolls are all I see. Whatever it it I think I see, becomes a Tootsie Roll to me.”
Since we are posting forums I will add my own talkphilosophy.org Hope this isn’t considered spam ben.
Yep, no rules against spam, so your posts are welcome here.
I agree.
I doubt it.
