I do not condone the use of LSD.

There’s more Important things to **not** condone, than half an acid tab.

Lol.. I like the analogy, but I know myself very well and I also don’t step in the same river twice.
.

..don’t you think that if I had any interest in drugs, I’d have done them regardless?

Plus, I prefer to play around with my physical.. coz my mental plays around, all by its-self.. tripping off air, and life itself. 😛

Acid is accurately named. Take it if you want to dissolve your mind. Many idiots do.

Isn’t _anything_ that alters the psyche, classed as a drug?

Lololol… then call me a non-idiot, whilst also telling me how wise I am. 😉
.
I’ve been offered loads of free drugs throughout my life, but they always came with clauses. 😏

Tylenol is also a drug. These substances are drugs.

But when it comes to mind-altering substances, alcohol …pretty sure that’s a drug. …and poison.

I had to edit it because my first reply sounded like I might condone it. But I definitely do not. My original comment basically said that you probably found it boring because there wasn’t any actual acid on the tab. Which is not to say “hey LSD is interesting, go do it.” I did not want to be misinterpreted, so I edited my reply to be absolutely clear I do not condone LSD. It backfired, because you still misinterpreted me. I was not trying to make you feel bad about dropping (using) acid. I am almost positive you didn’t. The intent was there, but that wasn’t even what I was talking about. Besides, I actually have used acid, so why would I condemn you for something that I myself have done? Granted, I would never do it again.

I do not condone indiscriminate sex or illegal drugs, but …I definitely condone rock ‘n’ roll. Part of me wishes that condoning rock n roll was the only thing I said this entire reply.

Caffeine maybe, but alcohol? In terms of mental and physical effects, risk, and social cost, alcohol is easily on par with plenty of substances that are typically considered drugs, e.g. marijuana, amphetamines, cocaine, opium.

Is illegality or cultural perception part of your definition of drugs?

> [@HumAnIze](#):

Just to be clear about how empty the claim that “many idiots do”, it is absolutely the case that the vast majority of idiots _don’t_ take LSD.

More meaningful is that many smart and accomplished people do: from a quick search, Jobs and Gates, Feynman, multiple Nobel Prize winners. And most meaningful is that some of them credit LSD with inspiring their successes – Jobs is the obvious one here, but apparently Francis Crick came up with the DNA double helix while on LCD.

Hallucinogens have a long history, they’re a human universal, and where they were used historically their users were frequently revered as shamans or prophets. Many religions have not-so-subtle references to hallucinogen usage, so it’s likely that a good portion of the worlds religious beliefs have their origin in a dawn age trip.

More speculative is the idea that [hallucinogen use was responsible for our transition into self-awareness](https://www.vectorsofmind.com/p/eve-theory-of-consciousness-v3).

In any case, I think the idiots who write them off completely are wrong (as are the brilliant and successful people who do the same).

> [@MagsJ](#):

Sorry, I was being flip.

I haven’t tried acid, I’m drawing inferences from psilocybin, a.k.a. ‘magic mushrooms’ (I’m under the impression it’s a similar experience; can @Mr_Reasonable confirm?).

With mushrooms, a small dose means all the side effects without much or any of what people are talking about when they recommend trying mushrooms. You get nauseous and confused, but your close enough to normal thinking to be afraid of how it’s changed the way your mind works and to worry that you’ve broken yourself. It’s several hours of sick, scared, anxious confusion. That’s different _in kind_ from a full dose that pushes your mind through that into the interesting parts of reconceptualizing and self-discovery, and the calm contentment that lasts for a long while after the experience.

I’m not sure that variations in dosage work the same way in acid – [this article](https://www.nature.com/articles/s41386-022-01297-2) suggests that LSD response is more consistent between doses, though “ego-dissolution” is significantly greater at higher doses and is probably a large part of the appeal.

I’ll tell you my secret of drugs.

I smoke cigarettes and drink to not destroy whole universes on a whim.

It calms the spirits. Every spirit is different.

When I drink I don’t have blackouts, anger issues, or hangovers.

When I stop drinking, I destroy cosmoses.

If you’re going to judge me for this…

You better be prepared.

Everyone’s biochemistry is different.

I’ve met many people I have to protect because they can’t handle their substances of choice.

Substances like these pull people into different dimensions.

You have to meet them where they are, say, a meth addict (which is very common). I just tell them I like their tenacity. I have no problem with them, they have no problem with me.

What I mean by ‘drug’ is the severity of its effect to distort. Something that makes you truly _drugged_. The power to distort beyond just feeling a little buzz or feeling more relaxed. Granted, alcohol taken in large quantities will qualify as drugging you. Then again you could drink so much water that it drugs you too, right before it kills you. The point of a substance being a drug or not has little to do with whether or not you can consume large enough quantities of it to induce those effects, more to do with the inherent properties of the substance itself to induce that effect even in quite low quantities. More of “it’s in the very nature of the thing itself” rather than “hey look if I seriously over-consume this look what it does to me” kind of thing. Feel free to disagree with that idea, I really don’t mind. I see your point as well, I simply choose to adhere to my own because I see it is closer to the phenomenological core of the meaning in question.

About acid, I meant that people who take acid are stupid. Is that clear enough? Even worse, using acid will make you even stupider. I suppose there’s a threshold of sorts beyond which you are already stupid enough to do something that will make you even stupider, but you just don’t care or aren’t able to see it. I really don’t care about name dropping some famous dudes who supposedly used acid. Being famous doesn’t equate to being not stupid. And even not stupid people can do stupid things. But I’ve seen the effects first hand enough times and I can understand precisely what is going on. But like before, feel entirely free to disagree. That’s your right as a human being.

Alcohol makes people stupid. That’s why there is a legal limit to how much you can have in your bloodstream when you drive. Something tells me you exceed that limit on the regular. For example, last night when you were drunk posting.

More like, they will get more and more epic. It does tend to happen.

I can see how, from your perspective, something epic would just look stupid to you. Confusing your own lack of insight, creativity, intelligence, philosophical potency, scope of being, for that of another person because of your own failure to see… I should add that to my fallacies list, now that I think about it.

Blindness Fallacy: when you fail to see or appreciate the meaning, significance and/or truth of something because of your own blindness and then you project that lack of meaning/significance/truth onto the other person.
