Don't harm the little children

(I heard this story on NPR but this is the only textual reference of it I can find.)

Lee unknowingly gives “pornographic” material to a minor. I think this case is ridiculous. What the hell is wrong with society that we have to freak out over a penis. We can show EVERYTHING but the little brown circles on female breasts, and everything that a thong covers. Other than that, cleavage the place up, and guys, off with your shirts entirely, oh and if you really want to you can wear a thong, just don’t show your penis, because it will OFFEND the little children.

What exactly are people so up tight about nudity for? Is there a biblical reference to clothing requirements? Is there any sort of rational argument for requiring clothing to be worn? What is it about the female nipple, for chirst’s sake, that is so god damn important that it stays covered up at all costs, yet the rest of the breast can be flaunted without a care in the world?

Is the simple answer that humans have lived with clothing so long that uncovering just takes getting used to, and that the public revealing of the nipple is coming soon, just like the female shin arms and feet were revealed?

I just don’t get how our naturally occurring organs are taboo. I have a penis. I’m sure you could come to that conclusion some how or other. I’m proud of it, it gets the job done. But what real reason do people have to abhor my penis if it happened to be shown in public? Because the little children will grow up to be crack-whores and prostitutes? Kids who grow up with a lot of books in the house don’t necessarily grow up to be librarians. Parents, get off your lazyass high horse and do some educating.

The reason for clothing can’t be so maintain the mystique of sexual intercourse and the like. I thought sex was for baby making only, not for sensual and visual enjoyment, no sirry bob. Babies babies babies. Sexual enjoyment is an abomination in the lord’s eyes.

On an ironic note. My nipples are useless, a female’s are not. If vestigial organs and foreskins and such are removed for being useless, how come male nipples are not removed? If a female’s are the ones that are highly useful, why is it that they are covered up in such a disgusted and morally-requiring manner, and it doesn’t matter worth a shit if i take my shirt off in public? In a bedroom it it perfectly alright to show your nipples off to your partner/s and they will be loved I can assure you, yet walk outside that front door, its on with the bra and shirt.

Is it sexism? Is there a way to justify the requirement of clothing beyond subjectivity?

The story saddens me. Claiming sexuality when there was none is a prudish control issue the mother has.

Sadly many consider such works as that comic book profane. I do hope he wins.

On the flip side. He should have used better judgement. It would not be hard to figure out that handing a comic book with nudity to a young child is going to set off a prudish family. That he did not think of this he does deserve a minor slap on the wrist, but not like that.

But are there suposed to be warning lables on printed material for “explicit content”. Shouldn’t the comic publisher take some blame? The shop owner said that he had many comic books to sort and would not have had time to go through each one and look for the one page that has a penis. Can’t he plead ignorance and innocence? He didn’t sell the comics to the kids. They were free.

It could go either way. Yes the publisher holds responsibility, and probably will get named in a civil suit. but, to the law, the store owner is the dealer. He is responsible for what hie gives away and sells. My guess is he got alot of copies each of some books. The law will argue that he probably had reasonable amount of time to check the content.

And that as a book store dealer he had prior knowledge that some comics are not designed for children.

A good prosecuting lawyer can make hash of him with further arguments unless he has a really good lawyer.

id love to see someone argue this on tv, because i feel the same way.

I a not against nudity or the human body. Why was this man showing a child a book like that?

Why do people get so offended at the human body? I mean, everything that’s offensive, either you have, or your significant other has. Between the two, there’s everything. You’ve seen it, it’s over.

Tell the world, I have declared the human body good.

But seriously, I have no idea why people get offended at something natural like the human body. Any ideas?

The store owner did not give the books to the boys intentionally. According to the story, he was giving out free comics to everyone during Halloween trick-or-treating. These boys just happened to receive one with Pablo Picasso masturbating, and a full frontal naked woman.

comic panels in question
WARNING!!!
These frames will offend the pussy-hearted.

Okay, now that the entire panel’s been shown, it’s obvious that it wasn’t meant for children… I hope. It also seems that the woman complaining is crazy, since she’s only complaining about there being a picture of a penis. Nevermind the nude woman or the language, no. There’s a penis in the comic book!

Doesn’t look like anything I read when I was younger. Although the guy in the suit does kinda resemble Pop Tate…

Nice post airex. I envision a nude world at some point, because in thinking about why we wear clothes, i can’t help but think it’s for the business minded, especially in the summer. Maybe you should check out Montaigne who (tries) sheds light on genitals and and the like. And male nipples are for arousal and are not totally useless.

of course a primative society find that nudity , or very close to it , is no big deal.

interesting isn’t it

Nudity bothers me exactly none.

I am a closet nudist, run around the house naked, but I’m not paying to join a club where I can drink at a bar naked or play shuttlecock (badminton) or horseback-ride or anything.

I don’t see the need for clothes, but I won’t complain about feeling restricted, or anything. If it was summertime and I could legally run around naked, I probably would.

If a parent had wanted their children to see it been different. But pervs would give it to a child to see if they would get excited…then well you know.

yes

abuse . destruction of that child .

I think , the greatest and most profound harm Humanity does to its self.

religion being an extremely and I do mean an extremely close second.

Nudity is such a societal “no-no” because some people think it’s gross and/or they don’t expose themselves enough to it.

Nonetheless, showing that kind of material to minor is just stupid.
