Okay, this is only about one small step up from Word Association on the Mundane Babble Lameness Scale, but I read yesterday that Neil Patrick Harris has “come out” as a gay man, due to recent “speculation and interest in my private life and relationships.”
Odd- I didn’t realize anyone had speculated about him since the early 90’s.
Strangely enough I had no idea who this person was, and then I turned on the TV and saw a commercial for a show that he’s on. It appeared to be a sit-com.
Question:
Is there any connection between having a giant head and being gay?
I must admit I’d never actually seen anything with him in it until Starship Troopers. Never saw Doogie Howser M.D. He was awesome in Harold & Kumar Go To White Castle, though.
Hmmm…hopefully you mean the one on his shoulders. I guess in the movie I never noticed his head being abnormally large. Although it wasn’t shot in a way to really showcase any possible contrasts in head size between him and the other cast members.
I was a competitive bodybuilder (Natural, as in drug-free competitions)
for 15 years. I can tell you that 90% of all people are at least bi-sexual.
I could name names you would not believe…I won’t so don’t ask.
Not one person coming out gay would surprise me. Not one. Even George Bush…
You know, MP- that really makes sense though. There really is something inherently gay seeming about the narcissistic preening, oiling & body waxing. I’ve long heard that many (most) bodybuilders and male strippers are gay.
I would say about half of them are out and out gay and the rest are like everyone else. I am married with two children and never lived a gay lifestyle but I was in a ‘field’ that brought out certain things in EVERYONE.
We developed our bodies to a point where a certain reaction was revealed by anyone and everyone. I work out everyday and straight guys stare constantly. I’m not talking about a freakish look here, I am natural, not a 275lb drug monster.
This will sound narcissistic but I know of no other way to make my point.
If I took my shirt off 90% of straight men would have an intial reaction of ‘wow’. I think that we all have that initial reaction when seeing something attractive, regardless of the sex.
I think we ‘self-adjust’ to the person we want to be or the person we think we should be seen as. I think we are all gay, bi or whatever for at least a nanosecond at certain points.
I think some take one path while others take another. You just ‘self-correct’ to the path that suits your ‘ideal’.
By the way, I hated shaving down, etc…you had no choice. Some of us just have good genetics and enjoy the ‘hunt’ of bodybuilding (the training) more than the ‘kill’ (competing). Some love being seen on stage, some could care less, believe it or not.
I’m not sure that “wow” reaction is always a positive reaction to beauty. You perhaps weren’t a “drug monster” but the reaction they get is probably initially shock, with disgust following hard on its heels. Certainly I’ll agree that the natural reaction to an attractive person (ie a symetrical person) of either sex is to gaze admiringly, but my reaction to bodybuilders is usually the same as if I drove by a particularly gruesome car wreck.
I wonder if it’s true about male strippers? Legend/rumor has it that nearly all are gay. Is there truth to this or is it simply envy on the part of couch potato men?
Natural bodybuilders are not gruesome. A typical drug-using bodybuilder (heavyweight) weighs about 250-ish when competing, more off-season. They lose that type of appeal to most.
And you have to be symmetrical or you wouldn’t be onstage to begin with.
And my point is the natural reaction to an attractive person. Now develop the body on that attractive person. You will usually get more admiration.
As far as strippers go, I know alot of female strippers and they say most of the male stripper are gay. Most of the female strippers are at least bi.
