Dr. House Disses the Prez

…At least that’s the way I’m reading the comment from this week’s episode.

House is confronting a Canadian who has a framed Canadian flag on his wall but is down here availing himself of the American medical system, and opens the conversation with: “Thought I detected the sickly sweet smell of maple syrup and socialized medicine.” Hooooaaaahhh :banana-dance: :banana-dance: :banana-dance: :banana-dance:

I love it when they insert correct political (as opposed to politically correct) viewpoints into the dialogue, as opposed to moronic stuff like those global warming propaganda items they slipped into 24 last winter.

HYmmm, yeah. I think we need to get more fictional television show characters in on the health care debate.

Isn’t House currently insane?

Why stop at fictional tv characters, why not extend it to carton characters,

I can vision Mickey Mouse doing an anti-health care commercial:
Remember the mouse is owned by a super huge corporation who is against
the health care plan.

The possibilities are endless. Maybe Raskolnikov from
Dostoevsky, “Crime and punishment” can offer us an commercial about the evil
of killing or if the pawnbroker had better health care, it wouldn’t have been murder,
just simply assault.
Cain didn’t really kill Abel, he just removed an enemy of socialised health care.

You can’t go wrong by simply creating our own commercials from fictional
writings.

There’s a new study that shows a significant number of cons believe Colbert Report is a right wing show.

Well, it does display the right wing, doesn’t it? (read also: di-splay)

Yes I know people who actually think Colbert is a Republican right-winger. I wonder how dense you really need to be to miss all the obvious sarcasm, satire and mockery that goes on every single minute of his show, that he doesnt even try to hide one bit. He practically shoves it down your throat.

No he’s an actor and thus playing the role of someone who is hallucinating, caused by his withdrawal symptoms.

Paineful truth are you really that desperate for affirmation for your cause that you’re getting jollies from fictional political quips? Small things…

I’m with Faust, fuck fictional characters…

The title of this thread should be “Hollywood actor reads lines written for him and approved by the existing political/hollywood channels.”

RE: Jonathan Swift. Seems the only jokes that apply are if they fit you’re own perspective. Satire finds venues everywhere, and the whole point of the IP is that the mainstream media is finally turning on His Royal Impregnable Majesty along with many purveyors of comedy including SNL.

…well, Bill Maher was on “the chocolate jesus’s” butt pretty much from day one wasn’t he?

Uh huh, and as with all comedy, it only works if it’s founded in Truth–something Maher is unfamiliar with…

And that’s unusual is it, for satirists to mock government? So unusual that you had to start a thread about it?

I think its great that government is mocked whether I am pro or anti, that’s healthy. As opposed to bellowing at someone at the top of your lungs like a four year old who’s been denied candy because you have no real argument.

It all but dried up with Obama, and lasted until he just couldn’t be ignored anymore as a subject of comedy…and dare I say it, scorn.

 “Bellowing”? “No real argument”? To whom are you referring?

Some people say that GLENN BECK RAPED AND KILLED A YOUNG GIRL IN 1990. I don’t know. I am just asking questions. I am not saying GLENN BECK RAPED AND KILLED A YOUNG GIRL IN 1990, but some people are. Actually there’s no proof that he RAPED AND MURDERED that girl. It’s just as likely that the MURDERED AND THEN RAPED HER.

If GLENN BECK didn’t RAPE AND KILL A YOUNG GIRL IN 1990 wouldn’t it be the prudent thing for him to simply release his legal records proving that he didn’t RAPE AND KILL A YOUNG GIRL IN 1990. It is very interesting that he hasn’t taken this very simple step. Instead he hides behind an array of lawyers.

Look, I’m not saying that GLENN BECK RAPED AND KILLED A YOUNG GIRL IN 1990. I’m just afraid that he might have. There’s no evidence that he did. But there’s also no evidence that he didn’t either, which begs the question, just how long as he been getting away with the RAPE AND MURDER OF A YOUNG GIRL IN 1990

Again, I’m not saying GLENN BECK RAPED AND KILLED A YOUNG GIRL IN 1990. I’m just afraid that GLENN BECK RAPED AND KILLED A YOUNG GIRL IN 1990. I just think we should keep asking. Don’t ever let them stop you from asking questions

Who cares that’s politics. I’m glad he’s under pressure, maybe it’ll keep him honest now he knows his grace period is over.

I suppose its a difference of culture, its long been our God given duty to mock the incumbent government, even if we are supporters, even if we agree with their policies, and even if they don’t declare war whilst snuffling for truffles up Bushes asshole. I agree with Obamas principles, but I still have spent ages sarcastically calling him the great god Barobama on the interweb and mocking the sort of Messiah like quality he’s imbued with by some. That’s healthy, people shouldn’t expect miracles, after all he is despite all previous indications- human.

The Republicans who decided to band together to disrupt meetings, didn’t you start a thread on them?

What about the following do you feel is untrue, TPT?

People have mistaken The Onion for a real online news magazine.

Boy do you know how to misrepresent things. People went there to get honest answers and reacted being treated like “nazis”, “ignorant”, and “red necks”. Don’t judge them by the rent-a-mobs the Democrats hire from ACORN, unions and the ranks of the welfare couch potatoes.

And lets not forget, the great Al Gore who yelled at a journalist for asking a simple question about a British high court judge’s ruling on his documentary and the 9 crucial errors it contained, and refused to answer the question, and then cut the journalist’s mic off. Man, those stupid disruptive republicans, they are all just organized mobs behind the scenes, with Limbaugh pulling the strings. How unfair to the poor elitists, to have to get asked genuine, letigimate questions by such unappreciative and disruptive people.

Gotta love it.
