I know quite alot about psychology, from personal reasurch and higher education, but something I am unclear on is dreams. Which is odd because when I was younger I had alot of dreams that came true, so I would have thought I would have broached the subject sooner.
So I’m realy looking for some insight into this. I dont just want the typical sceptical and text book psycological answers (though these would be great) but also the more “out there” ones if anyone knows of any. I’m keen to get the whole picture on this.
The Orthodox Jewish opinion on it is that when you sleep you are experiencing 1/60 of death. Your soul ascends to heaven to kind of be recharged while it spends time with God. During that time, it is not bound by time and sometimes glimpses of the future could be seen. Or something like that. It’s not something I’ve studied extensively, but that’s the gist of what they believe.
Ok, I’ve got an “out there” response. Well, it’s basically exactly what koifer said. When we dream, the energy that is our soul gets to sort of “escape” for a while. I think this plane of existence in which the energy goes is not bound by natural law. If interpreted correctly, I think dreams could very well foretell a coming event. Other souls that are not currently bound by physical life are capable of telling the future, possibly due to the fourth dimension. Time is not a straight line in the 4th dimension, the future and the past and the present are one sort of. We only perceive it to be one event at a time.
Out there enough? Perhaps our waking life is simply the dreams of our souls, and we perceive it to be the opposite. Dreams intrigue me so very much.
