Sideways is a good film that borders on comedy drama. It follows two men as they bond together for a week in wine country. During their trip they meet two women who will change their lives forever. While some of the scenes I felt were superfluous and in bad taste, the rest of the film I found to be enjoyable. The best scene without a doubt was the dialogue expressed between Miles and Maya as they discussed their love of wine. The obvious symbolism being used there was poetic and expressed beautifully by Virginia Madsen without being too corny to sit through. All in all, it was a good film.
I enjoyed how the main character was portrayed as a big talking do nothing for most of the film until he saw his friend crying, he does a double-take, and becomes energized to save his friend.
It showed that given the right reasons he really was the dynamo that he claimed to be.
I actually like this movie (evan though everyone around me hated it), I really liked the main character (Miles) in the movie, I thought that part was very well played.
What I didn’t like was Jack’s reasons for doing what he did in the film, and got what he deserved, but I agree, Ad, it was interesting, how Miles’s character changed in the last scene to help his friend.
Should have been called “Wine-y Yuppies are Dicks”
Who could have imagined that a discussion of wine could be so erotic. Loved that scene too. If you have ever struggled with publishing anything, it is even more fun to watch.
Great movie!
Never saw it. Never going to. Looked boring and whiney. Not enought tits and explosions.
And not enough exploding tits, that’s for sure.
Damn sure!
Maybe if the movie had a lesbian kissing scene. That would be something, but as is… nothing.
And that’s, all ya need.
You two are obviously ten and eleven.
No disrespect, but you must be kidding.
I think at least one of them is.
I’m not twelve. I just have Mad Cow Disease.
I’m 16, and I just don’t take Bandar seriously, so when I’m replying to him, most likely, I’m joking.
did anyone else see a connection, or at least similarity with withnail and i?
This post is for TAB only.
“WITH” is a preposition, dammit.
excuse me “to”

“Me.” I am just being a grammar policewoman. You are adorable, by the way. I am just messin’ with ya, sweetie.

edit: Oh yeah, and I thought this movie sucked. Actually … I take that back, it didn’t suck - but in the context of getting rave reviews and being mentioned as ‘one of the year’s best’ and all that jazz, it sucked. I probably have some bias, too, because I bought the DVD on the strength of said reviews, opposed to renting. Mistake.
