Educational System Issue

I have a big problem with school. The only classes I like are English and French. I just don’t know if math, science, psychology are even true or real. And I also rather learn by myself. I do not benefit from mundane activities that are at school, and I could learn the material better by reading it by myself in the company of my home. Any advice to my abyssmal situation?

Math science and psychology are all true and real. Also, you probably don’t like them because you’re not very good at them. Study more. It’s a lot more fun when you’re the top of the class.

Why do you think assumptions are real?

  1. How are they assumptions?

  2. Good luck working without assumptions bub.

Mikos tell me how math can’t be true. Tell me how the statement 1+1=2 is not true? or that a triangle has three sides. If anything math is the only thing that can be verified as being true. Do you mean you don’t see it’s worth or its application to the “real” world?

Mikos,

I think I understand essentially what you are saying. I’m guessing what you are saying is that all of it feels “other worldly” without much grounding in reality. They are “assumptions” for you not necessarily grounded in reality.

It may well be that you need some time to yourself to look at the issues and then use school to revisit those issues at a later date. Until you establish the usefulness of math, or science, or psychology, then you will have little impetus to learn it.

Modern school is not much on showing WHY something is as it is. They tend to favor explanations that you are expected to take on faith. It’s not that this style is WRONG per se, but it does not work equally well for all people. It sounds to me like you are more of the “prove it in reality first” sort, which really ought to be in school more than it is in my opinion, and all I can tell you is that you’ll probably have to do it on your own.
