Emoto messages in water.

I watched the “what the bleep do we know” movie the other night, and I want to know what the hell is going on here?? They give no evidence in the movie. Someone also had a book that is supposed to explain the questions raised in the movie, and it didn’t. In fact it made me even more skeptical because of some of the claims the book made, such as promoting Libets colour phi phenomenon as if ‘backwards referral in time’, was what was really going on!!! Anyways from the websites I’ve looked at they provide little fact about what is going on. The man simply has pictures. While the possibility that the water is being changed is something I don’t readily dispute, there most definitely is a physical cause for what ever is going on. Since some of my spiritual friends are now using this for ammo, I must now take the time to understand this, so that I can once again show them that science will previal, and chaulk another one up for reason in our endless tennis match without a net.

I’ve seen that movie too. All the quantum theory they discuss is highly theorhetical to the degree that I would call it a steaming pile of Hoo-hah.
The bit about water is rubbish. They showed highly selective photos which I can guarantee you could find in any glass of water if you took enough photos. ‘Love water’ is as calm as it is chaotic, and ‘Anger water’ is just the same. I"m sorry if I sound like I wasn’t giving it a chance, I was. If there was a chance of it being a recently discovered phenomenon I would say I don’t understand it, but I do and the guy who made those pictures is a conman.
The ‘Scientists’ involved were all philosophers who take some of the murkier bits of quantum probability and turn it into fantasy. For instance, the basket ball bit was based on what was originally only an analogy to discribe quantum math, but now turned into into a literal interpretation which it was never intended to be. Do me a favour, if you ever meet a scientist who tells you alternate dimentions really exist because they are explained by quantum theory, please kick his ass for me.

pmsl… thanks for the reply. =D> Yeah I know the movie was utter crap, and they drastically mislead people. I could explain all the theoretical physics, the only thing I had a problem explaining was the water shit. Doesn’t really matter anyways, I don’t even know why I bother. If you believe that a psychic sheild could protect the united states, then your quiet simply F.U.B.A.R!!

Thanks for this, seriously. I’m such a moron for not thinking of it #-o

You don’t have to think of it, you’ve got a crack squad of philisophical specialists right here to do the thinking for you! :unamused:

Yeah I’ll just let ILP solve all of my problems… next thing you know I’ll change my user name to nooneisatthedoor, start waisting my life trying to tell fairytales, and disregarding actuality :stuck_out_tongue:

=D> =D> =D>

Okay, ILP might in reality cause more problems than it solves, but at least it does try to solve some problems. Sometimes. Kinda. Well, not really, but it does give you an education both in the art of debate and in sorting through mountains of bickering to find that debate.

You could change your username as you said and practice insulting and browbeating people to try and dominate an argument through persistance rather than using any actual arguement or facts, but that would just mean you were wasting your’s and everyone else’s time in a pathetic crusade for a quick ego trip.

Of course you and almost everyone here are far too sane to behave like that!

Rounder, don’t be a c*nt or I’ll pound you…

How stupid and hypocritical of the two of you, using a science forum to try to insult another member, accusing said poster of using insults…

p.s.

True, the movie is a load of crap, I’ll agree with you on that…

I seem to remember a discussion way back when I first joined here about that movie, probably in Mundane Babble…

The movie is ridicululous in how it attempts to convey certain messages… for instance the examples like the water one, and the native’s not being able to see the boats are completely retarded but I think in terms of the overall message it’s not a total waste of time…

Quantum control is not wholly bogus… and the observer effect cannot be ignored. It’s just that to break it down in lamans terms for the ‘average’ viewer they needed to stretch things a bit. Keep in mind it’s a movie.

I dunno, I’ve seen it about 4 times now and while I originally felt the way you guys do, I’ve since come to view it as a more abstract, open minded project.
