English Friendshio thread

Slow down there Honkey, I haven’t even touched that thread since I’ve last posted into it, given I said everything I had to say. So far, your the only person who’ve shown signs of bigoted prejudice- which is the national sport of the british aparently if this site is any indication.

What is your issue? It’s the English doing this. I didn’t just make up a policy for the English to do in my own mind, and dictate it, and they followed suit. This is a homegrown policy, one that no other nation I know, no matter how despotic, bothers to do. Friendship is under fire in your country… and I am the bad guy? Or is it because I quote from newsites that you have a reflexive, gut reaction as bad? Why do you think it’s bad? I’ve quoted from a dozen some sites on this forum…

I honestly don’t know how the Englished allowed their children to be conditioned to be so reflectively hostile and well, literally bigoted (it’s correct usage here, not your usage) in reacting to people with opinions that differ from the government dictated politically correct line. England is a small ass country… it doesn’t have final say on the opinions floating around in other English speaking countries. We fought a revolution simply so we could have the choice to do things, like read news sites- even Foxnews (yeah, I said the bad word, Foxnews, hang me) and openly discuss them without facing the authority of the crown authority of tyranny of a majority or of a veriluent minority. We have the right to say as we please, including pointing out scary Dystopian policies being enacted in public schools, where children are being punished for being human, for wanting to have friends. We can discuss this, without any liberal suicide bombers kicking in the door and threatening to kill the debate, and ostracizing us from society.

Your reaction is default disturbing. It’s not healthy for a democracy, and is unsound to have even in a dictatorship. Debate is good. Allowing people to post material on the net without attacking them for the site as unkosher, when it’s a major, well established international newsmedia site is good. Accusing the poster and the news site of being something they are not (which I’ll extend to you as a right, so long as you suffer the consequences of my critical response, if not, it’s Libel) is not good. It’s unhealthy.

I encourage people to talk to me, and to others. I am a major free speech advocate, and strongly support pan philosophy. However, your reflexive, externally conditioned response warrants it’s own discussion- you introduced it. I introduce stuff all the time that others can challenge and question, as I presented it. You presented your issues unwarranted and unfounded in reaction to a thread that had little to do with your views… I welcome it, and know the counter response is completely within my rights. You fucked up big time here, it was a blantant and obvious fuckup, and you only proved the underlining point about the direction England is going. Which is unfortunate, as I like to be proved wrong about such issues.

Just once, I want to show a case where a country is going downhill, and have it rationally explained to me, using sound thinking, that it’s just a misunderstanding I have, and these are the reasons… instead, I get what may be best described as the ‘Rehabilitation’ from the movie Idiocracy as people proving my point try to run me down with Dildo Monster Trucks.

Pretty much the mentality, and people think it’s wholesome and correct.

And secondly, it’s my thread, not yours Hobbes. It’s okay for the OP to say 'hey, let’s lock it up), it’s not okay for shitheads to come in when they are away and get it locked up because their views are being challenged (God forbid, someone’s outlook being challenged on a philosophy site). I have more to post in that subject involving childhood friendship and typology, and need it REOPENED.

The thread belongs in this section of the site, it’s definitely fitting the description of this section of the site. It’s a radical and dangerous precedent the English are conducting, threatening Democracy and Freedom itself, and needs to be examined more indepth. Suicide bombing the discussion due to indoctrination and bigoted intolerance on your end Hobbes won’t end it. It’s a very legitimate topic to discuss.

My side comments were all references to classical english novels on the subject of social conditioning, breaking up close relationship, like 1984. It’s very fair.

There has always been a strange attitude towards their children and children’s education by the British. One of the strangest chapters in the history of education being that of punishment.
There has always been corporal punishment, of one type or another, in British schools. It was made illegal in England in 1999, and the following year in Scotland, and a couple of years after in Ireland. Officially.
Horrendous punishments handed out by sadists, for minor infringements of pathetic rules.
I speak from personal experience of the physical and psychological pain and damage caused by these punishments.
We were ‘beaten’ with canes, shoes, rods, belts etc. For talking out of line, unruly behaviour, running in corridors, swearing, seen smoking after school hours.
Sometimes the beatings were on legs, sometimes on the buttocks. Sometimes we got a slap around the face, sometimes lifted out of our seats by hair and ears.
We were usual sent home with a note to a parent to be signed recognising the offense and due punishmment.
This was all “ok” with the powers that be. School psychologists weren’t around at the time to assess. Politics and social attitudes were leaning towards Victorian values.
I laughed off the idea of “no best friends” in the OP thread. But that said, rules and punishments (and their after affects) the authorities hand out in the English education system can never be under-estimated.
That was a bit of a rant, I know, but something touched a nerve somewhere.
And C_N, I’m not sure why your thread was locked up. Maybe Hobbes got locked in there though, so things could be a little quieter around here.
