With all these ‘Talent’ shows that have come on the horizon, there seems like another would be a good one to do.
One I have in mind would be a music performing kind that would emulate famous studio tracks that has been famous over the years. I.E. “Stairway to Heaven”, “Reeling in the Years”, “Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress”…etc.
The performers would be required to play the song as close to the original cut in every regard. Then, the same band could redo the same song in another aspect with the bands own flair.
The bands could could be judged and advance with other songs to their liking. Saving the their best work for the final judging. Think a show like this could fly?
I think a show like that would be awesome! It would be like a version of American Idol that actually required the contestants to have talent!
You have to draw some kind of line though, with relation to time, I think. How about any song that is ten years old or older?
Additionally, such a show would also be great for the bands, particularly the ones that aren’t as prevalent anymore. You could probably get them to come on as guest performers, cheap!
I think the ten years or older wouldn’t be a bad idea. Usually, the wine that stays in the barrel the longest would be the one best remebered.
There are a great many songs I would like to hear being performed from the 50’s and 60’s. You watch though, someone will come up with the idea here before long.
A lot of ideas are subtley queued through serendipitous methods. Who is to say I didn’t subconsciously step on somebody elses thinking. If this so, I didn’t intentionally mean to infringe on another’s thoughts.
