Ha! Some people don’t believe that’s my actual voice, but it is. My voice was slightly thrown off after I had my cancer surgery to remove my thyroid, but it’s back to normal now.
I should make another poem…thinking of making a Spanish love poem.
Interesting choice of poem, Erik. I assume you know a little of the history of ‘Redbeard’ the author? Quite an interesting character.
He was almost certainly Arthur Desmond, a New Zealander who moved to New South Wales prior the Federation of the Australia then to America when the law went after him.
His book “Might is Right” was published in 1890 and caused an enormous stir in the Victorian era because of its amoral, anti-religious, hedonistic calls for an anarchy and social Darwinism. He was an unashamed racist, anti-semite, misogynist and anti anything ‘moral’ or politically correct. There’s no evidence he read Nietzsche but there are similarities in that he demands men throw off their religious chains and become men of might and honour. Tolstoy mentioned this book and Anthony LaVey (Satanist) praised it. Today, these views are making a comeback.
PS: The line: ‘Your comrades rot in goal’ should be ‘Your comrades rot in gaol’. Gaol is how the British spell jail.
No - I’ve never thought of doing that, but that’s a cool idea. I think I remember someone encouraging me to do voice over work for video games, like FarCry. I will think about it.
