Ierrellus, I favor whatever works to get us closer to living in God’s love, if at all possible. I favor letting God sort that out.
Ec… OK well here is an at-the-time secular philosopher stating both positions in one writing. I think eventually he realized his conflicting beliefs were pushing him to the result he accepted before his physical death.
In “the humanism of existentialism” Sartre says both, “we can never choose evil. We always choose the good…” (p. 293).
and:
301, 351 352, 355
“he has made himself a coward by his acts” (301)
“my shame is a confession” (351)
“Shame—like pride—is the apprehension of myself as a nature although that very nature escapes me…“ (352)
“I am ashamed of being born or I am astonished at it or I rejoice over it, or in attempting to get rid of my life I affirm that I live and I assume this life is bad. Thus in a certain sense I choose being born,” (355).
Some say that their life is hell but they keep choosing it. Either they are wrong that it is ALL hell, or they are wrong that we only choose hell from ignorance.
EC… you imply God sends the ignorant to hell. A good God would not do that, and an evil god (maximally great being) would not exist, since evil is a privation.
There is the parable of the sower, which talks about what happens to the seed depending how it is sowed. That means God understands if it’s ignorance & doesn’t hold it against anyone.
There are parables that essentially say God will sort things out, and it’s not for us to worry if a wheat is a tare (or whatever).
but - for those who KNOW they have received light, there is NO EXCUSE, and he will no longer accept ignorance as an excuse (overlook it)… from whom much is given, much is expected. When you say “I see” your guilt remains when you withhold light/forgiveness from others (self included).
I’m between worlds. I see everything as spirit. And all I see is all of you sending me to hell forever so you can fuck someone.
And I hate you for it. Everyone in history I hate for it.
I’m biding my time from helling this species…
Let’s look at a basic Tibetan monk… almost all of them have sex. You know why they get it?
Because they abuse color by patenting it. The red part of the flag is the magic (wish fulfilling) fire element for example
I remember when I was a child and I can see red as just red. It was beautiful. Now there’s this great competition from many cultures to own the symbolic patent of a color. Biggest asshole thing. A fucking color. Are you kidding me?
I stand here writing this post with the entire power of hell beyond hell in my power. And I wait.
Oh. That reminds me. Just like you can repeat stupid choices even though you know it’s gonna produce the same outcome (Einstein’s definition of insanity)…
You can take a different turn. You can repent and turn back to God. Had a great conversation with my mom about turning this morning. Everyone has a turning point, but in order to repeat that goodness you have to keep turning. That means in order to be great you have to live your life in confession and repentance and just keep your focus returning to God. Because we all get gospel amnesia because only God is 100% aware 100% of the time. And we’re always learning. So lean in to goodness, beauty, and truth. Never stop leaning in.
Ec. Something tells me you’re on God’s hit list too. Don’t gaze too long into that scope, buddy. He’s a better sharp shooter, I gare-un-tee…
Speaking of parables, my favorite one is of the ninety and nine, in which the good Shepherd will not suffer the loss of even a single sheep. God will reclaim all that He has created, losing not a single soul. No one goes to a fiery hell or is sent to that hell, because hell as torment is a lie, perpetuated by centuries of religious dogma. A wrathful God is an evil god, unworthy of the respect and awe of mere mortals. I hope in the afterlife Jonathan Edwards knows better than he preached.
There is no fear in love, for perfect love casts out fear.
If you cast out love, or are unable to understand it… he will teach you fear, so he can cast it out and replace your heart of stone with a heart of flesh.
He knows which sheep were raised by wolves (even if only in the mind).
It will be like those videos of babies hearing for the first time. They mostly all start out crying.
Then watch.
They turn into little shits again eventually. Can’t win for losin. Heh. Don’t forget the part about toast.
