Eternal Punishment and Time.

It’s about your tone… specifically towards a certain demographic.

I don’t need to try!

I edited… we crossed posts.

I can show you where Sartre contradicted himself on this if you like.

No you don’t understand. I don’t give a shit about Sartre other than that’s he’s a person.

NOBODY chooses what they don’t want.

It’s metaphysically impossible in all possible dimensions.

There are three possible choices of hereafters for sinners as mentioned by various members of the religious community.

  1. Annihilation (Oblivion)—Origen
  2. Remedial punishment (Purgatory)—Dante
  3. ECT. (Hellfire & Brimstone)–Edwards
Which do you favor believing in? And why?
    I opt for 1 and/or 2. 3. is about God’s wrath, not about God’s Love.

None of it. Everyone is innocent. Some people just need a bit of disempowerment and solitary confinement until they realize how valuable a friend is.

Ierrellus, I favor whatever works to get us closer to living in God’s love, if at all possible. I favor letting God sort that out.

Ec… OK well here is an at-the-time secular philosopher stating both positions in one writing. I think eventually he realized his conflicting beliefs were pushing him to the result he accepted before his physical death.

In “the humanism of existentialism” Sartre says both, “we can never choose evil. We always choose the good…” (p. 293).

and:
301, 351 352, 355

“he has made himself a coward by his acts” (301)

“my shame is a confession” (351)

“Shame—like pride—is the apprehension of myself as a nature although that very nature escapes me…“ (352)

“I am ashamed of being born or I am astonished at it or I rejoice over it, or in attempting to get rid of my life I affirm that I live and I assume this life is bad. Thus in a certain sense I choose being born,” (355).

Ref: Existentialism/ Basic Writings” 2nd Ed., ed. Guignon/Pereboom, Hackett, 2001.

Some say that their life is hell but they keep choosing it. Either they are wrong that it is ALL hell, or they are wrong that we only choose hell from ignorance.

EC… you imply God sends the ignorant to hell. A good God would not do that, and an evil god (maximally great being) would not exist, since evil is a privation.

“Ec…OK” is echo forwards & backwards :stuck_out_tongue:

End transmission.

No. You’re wrong. It is metaphysically impossible to choose something that hurts you. People always think it’s the best option in their ignorance.

Let’s take a meta view of it…

Sugar can cause obesity, kidney failure and pancreatitis.

Maybe you don’t consent to those side effects.

Nobody who eats sugar is consenting to the side effects of it.

There’s no serial rapist who wants to be caught.

There’s no serial rapist who WANTS consequence!!!

Let’s go further…

The most common and greatest of sins is enjoying the pleasurable exclusive access problem.

I guard myself from that MASSIVE sin with my entire life and spirit.

The hell is mindblowing for people who have sex.

But you don’t know it. I do.

I can forgive you for being mentally handicapped or having a tic disorder.

But if your mental handicap or tic disorder sends me to hell forever…

Expect me to use the current laws of existence to hurt you while I’m trying to change existence so this crap never happens again.

Ecmandu,
Are you totally opposed to all religion’s ideas about hell?
Does the idea of any form of hereafter concern you at all?

There is the parable of the sower, which talks about what happens to the seed depending how it is sowed. That means God understands if it’s ignorance & doesn’t hold it against anyone.

There are parables that essentially say God will sort things out, and it’s not for us to worry if a wheat is a tare (or whatever).

but - for those who KNOW they have received light, there is NO EXCUSE, and he will no longer accept ignorance as an excuse (overlook it)… from whom much is given, much is expected. When you say “I see” your guilt remains when you withhold light/forgiveness from others (self included).

I’m between worlds. I see everything as spirit. And all I see is all of you sending me to hell forever so you can fuck someone.

And I hate you for it. Everyone in history I hate for it.

I’m biding my time from helling this species…

Let’s look at a basic Tibetan monk… almost all of them have sex. You know why they get it?

Because they abuse color by patenting it. The red part of the flag is the magic (wish fulfilling) fire element for example

I remember when I was a child and I can see red as just red. It was beautiful. Now there’s this great competition from many cultures to own the symbolic patent of a color. Biggest asshole thing. A fucking color. Are you kidding me?

I stand here writing this post with the entire power of hell beyond hell in my power. And I wait.

You know why I wait?

Because I know what it’s like to be ignorant.

I was scared shitless of red when God was bringing me back. Embarrassing to remember.

Good times. To not repeat.

Fuck God, God is trying to patent the left and right hands.

God is on my hit list too.

Oh. That reminds me. Just like you can repeat stupid choices even though you know it’s gonna produce the same outcome (Einstein’s definition of insanity)…

You can take a different turn. You can repent and turn back to God. Had a great conversation with my mom about turning this morning. Everyone has a turning point, but in order to repeat that goodness you have to keep turning. That means in order to be great you have to live your life in confession and repentance and just keep your focus returning to God. Because we all get gospel amnesia because only God is 100% aware 100% of the time. And we’re always learning. So lean in to goodness, beauty, and truth. Never stop leaning in.

Ec. Something tells me you’re on God’s hit list too. Don’t gaze too long into that scope, buddy. He’s a better sharp shooter, I gare-un-tee…

Speaking of parables, my favorite one is of the ninety and nine, in which the good Shepherd will not suffer the loss of even a single sheep. God will reclaim all that He has created, losing not a single soul. No one goes to a fiery hell or is sent to that hell, because hell as torment is a lie, perpetuated by centuries of religious dogma. A wrathful God is an evil god, unworthy of the respect and awe of mere mortals. I hope in the afterlife Jonathan Edwards knows better than he preached.

The only way god can beat me is by a memory wipe or lack of witnesses (which means a massive memory wipe of trillions of beings)…

I’m biding my time…

If that’s the tactic god uses…

I have a little trick in store.

There is no fear in love, for perfect love casts out fear.

If you cast out love, or are unable to understand it… he will teach you fear, so he can cast it out and replace your heart of stone with a heart of flesh.

He knows which sheep were raised by wolves (even if only in the mind).

It will be like those videos of babies hearing for the first time. They mostly all start out crying.

Then watch.

They turn into little shits again eventually. Can’t win for losin. Heh. Don’t forget the part about toast.

You really don’t get it do you.

If anyone suffers, I suffer.

If a billionaire suffers because she accidentally dropped a dollar… I suffer.

And until I stop suffering, god is on trial.

Ichthus… let me explain this to you very simply.

When you beat existence with a big enough stick…

All kinds of shit crawls out of the woodwork… including me.

Let me use another analogy…

The dark side of the moon has always been there as long as we’ve looked at it.

You just discovered me.

Guess I can consider myself mooned?

Real mature, Ec.

You can stop bowing now.
