ethics of ruining someones life

so my boss bragged to me the other day about how he beats his dogs to near death. that they have all sort of neurotic disorders. that when he goes near them they shake and cower. and of course hes a macho prick so i believe him. i have reason to believe he beats his kid mostly because he threatens to all the time and because ive seen him smack the kid at least once. im not sure what his relationship with his wife is but i know its threatening at best but to be fair shes a psycho bitch too. but beyond that the guy is a piece of shit. i dont know if theres a generic type to describe him but he does stupid shit like spends $80,000 on a hummer pimps it out to present the image that hes wealthy and all this other shit to boost his ego.

so basically i feel like an asshole for not calling some sort of authority on him to at least fuck with him. maybe get him to think about how much of an asshole he is. but in my head i know it doesnt matter, that he wont improve in any means and i certainly dont want to further fuck up the lives of the people around him. still i feel he deserves something.

im definately quitting i just dont know if i have the conviction to do anything else especially because i have no proof. so how do you handle a situation like this? do i have any moral obligation to fuck with him?

moral obligation? no.

but if your conscience is nagging you:

if he is injuring animals, call the animal control on him.
if he is injuring his children, call the police on him.
if that doesn’t work, you could always take matters into your own hands.

I agree.

Could you bring a tape recorder into work? Secretly tape on of his conversations with you? What about security cameras at work? Then you just hand the recording over to the authorities.

He’s such a dumb ass to be telling other people that he does these things.

And if all else fails…you could always key his car. nothing better than resorting to a thug life.

so passerbys dont have any obligation to do the right thing when they have the ability to stop something?

if anyones seen i think it was the last seinfeld episode where theyre imprisoned because of some good samaritan law. they couldve helped someone being mugged but instead laughed and did nothing so theyre putt in jail. agree or disagree?

also calling the authorities more times than not does nothing. so im leaning toward not doing anything because it would be pointless for that reason also.

i considered messing with his hummer because hes so proud of it and i find those kinds of materialistic values insulting to humanity but if i was to attack his car it would probably be in the shape of spraypainting a dick on his windshields.

i dont know… probably not. it would make me feel like an angsty teen anyway. except in this case instead of rebelling against teachers or parents its slightly more severe. but then again its probably so common that its severity would become jaded.

I honestly have no idea what this part means.

In any case, I think something should be done about it. He’s causing serious harm to others and it needs to be stopped. In that sense, I believe in a moral obligation to step in somehow - not that you should ever feel guilty about not doing so, but that you should feel proud for doing a good deed.

How ever much you feel like an angsty teen is beside the point. The point is, this kind of abuse needs to stop. With whatever power you have within you, and with the least amount of calamity, make it stop.

HA! HA! I love that!!!.. Don’t do it cba

If You want a solution, You’ll have him imprisoned.
If not, You’ll see cyclic, contagious suffering.
He is an evil man, a disease, with no antibodies to stop him.

(In this instance, “You” (capital Y, plural), Applies to humanity itself.)

If you saw a bear mauling a child, and you had a gun, what would you do?

Now, does form, or does action, classify an animal as dangerous?

But, the law is liberal, and full of holes.
I do not predict badness as being destined to end here…

that wasn’t the question.

Dude, keying his car won’t change anything. Do something that will have a meaningful effect. I agree wholeheartedly with Imp. Call the authorities - they have the ability to effect change.

I honest would just go with my gut instinct - shoot the animal.

Sorry, I have to paraphrase this. I think you mean…

“What makes an animal dangerous? What it’s doing or what it is?”

Is this right?

If it is, I’d say what it’s doing - but what it’s doing depends on what it is, doesn’t it?

To be quite honest with you, I have no idea what this means.

Some people should not be employers nor parents. Call the authorities! The children will probably be screwed for life if you do not.

why not?

because you can set up any moral system you like and adhere to it or not…

my tummy churns when i think of persons like ur boss.

If my parents beat me I would have called the authorities.

If my husband beat me I would have called the authorities.

then again, my brother beat me and i didn’t call the authorities. i called my aunt. Who didn’t know what to do. So I moved to a seperate flat.

If my neighbours beat their dogs I would have called the authorities. Dogs tend to bark like mad if they are hurt. Maybe you should call his neighbours and find out if they hear eternal houling sounds escaping your boss’s home.

We once had neighbours whose kids ate dogfood and were locked out of the house all day long. We called the authorities.

We also had a neighbour who was a retired paedophilic clown. We didn’t call the authorities, but we kept a close eye on him.

you don’t have a moral ‘obligatiopn to’, but you are so justified if u wanna…
go ahead… fuck his life up. God won’t…he seems to like those kind of assholes…
