Not a bad game at all - plenty of incident, both teams having long periods of dominance, a couple of nice goals.
Ronaldo may not be the best player in the world, but if he carries on like this he soon will be. A very good goal and decent assist today getting him off the mark for the tournament. I’m one of his biggest critics, but you can’t argue with his productivity over the last couple of years.
Makes little difference to me, but I think he’ll stay for a couple more years before he goes to Madrid.
Let’s just say he isn’t as good as Madrid think he is, and he’s worth more to Man U at the moment that Madrid will be willing to pay. Plus Man U made him as a superstar, he might (just might, probably doesn’t) have some sense of loyalty to them.
If he has no loyalty, I’ll rip his full length poster off my wall. I’ll rip it off, i tell ya.
This is why i like rooney, more. United thru and thru.
If ronaldo has no loyalty then i think the sport is just about money. Which it is. But I like to think its the supreme sport in the world, so I like my delusions that say its not as much about money. Which it is. Damn.
Just watched possibly the best game of the tournament so far, in terms of action and drama anyway.
Turkey 2-0 down with 20 minutes to go. They have to win to go through. Three goals in the space of 15 mins, one of which was in the last minute, see them through. On top of that their keeper gets sent off for pushing Jan Koller, so they played the last minutes with 10 men and no keeper! Unbelievable!
Granted I’ve just lost £10, but it was worth it! (Almost!)
Yep, fucking great game. Me and the wife went from “Oh bollocks we’re going home” to “Holy shit we made it !!!” in less than 15 minutes. The cars are all hooting their horns outside.
But with all those yellow and red cards, I don’t know what kind of team we’ll be able to field for the quarter-finals.
