Cinematic visuals. I’ve definitely been --too many times to keep accurate count-- where you’re coming from in this poem.

Being chased is a classic dream. But are you ever the one doing the chasing? In dreams the lines get blurred.
A fine poem, which most of us can relate to. The old, philosophic question is–Is the dream reality and reality the dream? We spend a third of our lives in a stupor populated by often irrational narratives. Perhaps both the dream and the waking realities are essential for our mental stability? Some say you can’t die in a dream. I’ve been shot and have experienced my consciousness becoming a white totality of inclusion. Perhaps our socially taught beliefs become contested or reinforced in dreams. There are scientific explanations for the “visual abstracts”; but these often fall short of explaining the emotional intensity felt in dreams.
Forgive me. I wax philosophic. All I wanted to say is that the poem is good because it evokes recognition from others.
As always your use of visuals astounds me.
This is a bit off of the context of the poem but this made me think of the beginning to Proust’s Swann’s Way in which he discusses the act of falling asleep and waking up and the orienting of oneself to his surroundings in which memory, the fantasies of dreaming, and reality all intertwine to create a sort of pseudo-reality.
Yeah, btrfly, that twilight zone --for lack of a better term-- between sleep and wakefulness is an interesting state of consciousness in its own way. I’ve had wierd occasions where the experiences of the dream were so deeply felt that they lingered with me into the waking world for as long as a few hours until I find out that I only dreamt it . It’s especially a pain in the ass when I have a money dream when I’m actually broke in the “real” world, but the dream was so convinvcing that I operated under the frame of mind that I actually had money when I didn’t. What a let down when you finally realize it was a dream that told you you had money when you didn’t hours after you woke from the dream when you’re otherwise fully awake.
