every once in a while i start thinking about how wasteful and destructive my lifestyle is and it does great damage to my self-respect, so i stop thinking about it
“Doctor, it hurts when I do this.”
“Don’t do it then.”
Great wisdom.
Honestly UPF, you’re one smart, funny motherfucker - haven’t you ever just thought about getting the fuck out of wherever you are and going somewhere where you’ll be appreciated more…?
thanks Tab - it really does me good to hear that - and yeah, i’m workin on it - there’s a lot of inertia and cumbersome byproducts of inertia still to overcome, but i’m telling myself i’ll get there
Life inertia! My friend has a concept about that.
Confucius thought that inertia was both the most powerful and most poisonous influence in our lives.
So while you oughtn’t feel bad that you are being ground down by it, after all it is the most powerful influence, if it is grinding you down you ought recognize that it is a poison in your system but one you can overcome.
go on, Anthem . . .
definitely a poison - i’m getting past it though - with practice - slowly but surely
It’s probably the same as yours. He feels like he needs to move around a lot lest he get stuck.
An old lady came to a doctor complaining of back pain.
“Doctor, my back hurts every time I move” - says the old lady.
The doctor says, "Hmm, bend down a little bit. Does it hurt now?
“Yes, it still hurts” - says the lady.
“Bend lower. Does it hurt now?”
“Yes, it still hurts”
“Okay, bend all the way down. Does it hurt now?”
“No, it doesn’t hurt anymore”- said the lady.
“Good” - said the doctor, “Then just stay like that”
A man goes to the doctor, “Doctor, it hurts when I press on my nose.”
“Hmm, does it hurt when you press on your chest?”
“Yes… yes, it does. What is it?”
“Well… does it hurt when you press on your temple?”
“Yes! How did you know?”
“Does it hurt when you press on your collarbone?”
“It does, doc. What’s wrong with me?”
“You’ve broken your finger.”
