Every person wants. They will use other people to help get what they want - in countless different ways. Love, attention, pity, humor, inspiration, ideas, examples, sex, and materials are all things that people want from each other - creating a worldly balance of give and take.
But things are never quite so balanced on the individual level. In every person’s life they will end up giving away too much of themselves - or receiving to much of the wrong thing from someone else… ALL OF THE THINGS i listed above play a part, along with every other emotion or material thing.
Somebody is awfully quick to assume… well at first i thought you might have just been simply talking of “the passions”. Upon closer view I think its even more vague.
Firstly I think the fact that you attempt to quantify all these things is a problem, I don’t think we need to think about balancing out. We use those things; “Love, attention, pity, humor, inspiration, ideas, examples, sex, and materials” as means to ends.
You may get an over abundance or bad or good, i think it’s up to the swimmer to decide if they swim in the shall or deep end myself.
I agree with you. I dont necessarily think that you were quantifying.
You may; however, were just expressing what you though and have
experience to ring true.
“Love, attention, pity, humor, inspiration, ideas, examples, sex, and materials” are things we all want if not explicitly than by “other means”.
If we can’t achieve one object than we will most likely try to find a channel or medium to achieve it by all means, friends, family etc.
Assuming we have achieved our basic needs, than the rest or the extra needs, I consider being selfish to yourself and to others. it’s natural to be so and I dont see anything wrong with acting it out so long as you do not hurt anyone but we always hurt something around us- we are humans=)
Father Nature, sorry, I was a bit of an asshole in retrospect.
I think you are right, in a way. We generally do find ourselves unbalanced.
In this case I think the simplest answer (to me) is the best.
I think that we give alot of ourselves hoping that some of that come back in return, we love to be loved, give to recieve and so forth, whever applicable.
