Extinction.

When energy is created it cannot last forever. It eventually exhausts itself.

This is the same for the universe with all it’s galaxies in space that are known or undiscovered. Someday all of space will exhaust all it’s energy where it will eventually fold onto itself into entropy.

Physics describes this under discussions of cosmic degeneration and universal entropy.

What does this mean? The future of all societies, humans and all of civilization is extinction. There is no getting around it without talking about the theoretical or fantastic dreams of conquering all known space and time like gods.

All that we strive for, fight, and defend is for nothing at all beyond our egotistical desires in life. One might say that our toiling and laboring existence here in the now is just relative self masterbation.

Perhaps life is just a joke or somthing very cruel beyond even the best imaginations amongst us.

Think of the universe as a strong current in a river. You may try to fight against this current but eventually you will just be carried with it no matter what thoughts you may have in your mind.

Are we wasting our time delaying the inevitable? Many say yes.

Mr Doom-

“Every planet dies. Not every planet truly lives.” -Braveheart

I think that’s how the quote went anyway, hmmm.

I have always found, “wasting time,” to be a strange term. Short of committing suicide, we are all here, roaming around and the time is going to pass us by whether we wish to take part in the goings-on or not.

As humans, I believe that our primary motivation for everything we do is to be entertained as the time passes us by. Even with an affinity for philosophy, I believe this is the case. The expression of abstract thoughts, debating, offering our viewpoints and many other things are the reasons we keep coming here. Are we, “wasting our time,” in doing so?

There are many who would say that we are, but most of those people are people that do not have a keen interest in the discussion of philosophy, or interest in acquiring knowledge that cannot be easily had. In the same sense, there are many people that post here that would probably consider, video games, a “waste of time.”

The fact of the matter remains is that we do things because they entertain us, although there are many exceptions. Many would consider working an exception, but to this, I disagree. Entertainment is a luxury, and while some of the best forms of entertainment in and of themselves do not cost anything, the means by which to get to that form of entertainment, (i.e. this website, a computer and internet connection) do have a cost. As a result, we must work in order to further our own entertainment in life.

Again, we have no choice but to be here until we individually or collectively become extinct (short of suicide) so as long as we, as individuals, are getting maximum value out of life in terms of enjoyment, I do not believe we are, “wasting time.”

When you say exhaust, do you mean use up? Energy can neither be created nor destroyed, it just changes into different states. Of course there is the theory that eventually there will be so much space between energy that only very small amounts can be present at one time in a particular spot, but the universe somehow can contain it, so why not figure out how it does it? Assumeing that something cannot come from nothing, we are basically stuck here forever. So instead of saying that we are going to die regardless, why not give it a shot and try to avoid that, break the cycle if you will? Nothing is inevitable, there is always a possibility.

Time is just a fantasm and only exists in our minds. In the real world there is no past.every thing and every movement that seems past still exists there.
